An Open Letter to Mr. Jim Robinson
April/25/05 | jveritas

Posted on 04/25/2005 6:13:10 AM PDT by jveritas

What is happening to Free Republic Mr. Robinson? The Bush Haters and Republican Haters are getting louder and more daring by the hour. These phony conservatives who claim the Conservatism purity are savagely attacking President Bush and the GOP as bad as the worst liberals.

The Bash Bush feast is becoming a part of every thread. Everywhere you see Bush is a traitor, Bush wants to sell our sovereignty to Mexico, Bush is a liberal, Bush has no spine, Bush is destroying our economy, Bush is puppet in Vincent Fox hand, Bush is this Bush is that, everything wrong in this world is Bush fault.

Nothing but doom and gloom is coming from these phony conservatives. For them our economy is destroyed, liberals are controlling the government, the GOP will be finished by 2006, Mexico has invaded the US and changed its identity, China is superior to us, we are no more a superpower, and on and on and on. Every minor bump in the road is turned into a Mount Everest of catastrophe and disaster

Either Free Republic will remain the Premier political forum on the internet, a site to advance the real conservative cause and provide great and continuous support to our President Bush and the Republican Party, or it will be forum controlled by bitter and delusional phony conservatives who can never win on the ballot box, and come to FR to poison the atmosphere through their extreme kooky rhetoric and turn it into another Dummyland.

Enough is Enough.

You forgot the Farm Bill, CFR, endorsing civil "unions" and a host of other things.

Only thing he's done right is the WOT.

I put those in the second tier of things I don't like. Kinda like the farm leagues.

Without a border, how can you preserve a country.

It would seem the Iraq border is better guarded than our own. This just isn't right.

I thought that Linux was one of the hobbyhorses of the left.

Wasn't there a huge commotion over the fact that Luis Inacio de Silva, i.e. "Lula", had switched most of the country's networks to open source software recently?

Bear in mind, I'm not proficient in the least when it comes to these sorts of issues, so I could be totally off-base.

Here is my opinion on the lack of border security as I posted last week.

The SS guards the ranch better that the border is. On top of that he has v. fox over to BBQ & BS every few weeks. Our President could give a rats a$$ about the whole thing, he like all other politicians care only about themselves. And since he can't run for office in '08 he has no reason to care.

Yeah, right W you are doing something about this. The MMP has BUSTED you out and it will spread to the whole border soon. I voted for you because you were "at the time" the LESSER OF THE EVIL'S to choose from. When are you gonna have fox back to the ranch for dinner and RE-RE-RE-RE plan the scam you two are pulling off? < /TOTALDISGUST >

Now, what about that Fox regime?

Well, maybe a whole lot of Mexicans in America (with our support) can punch Fox in the nose better than Bush alone. I'm suggesting that Bush may just be allowing a bottom-up solution that involves Mexican nationals that like both Mexico and America.

I've voted for the man 4 times and worked on his campaign for Governor. I have every right to criticize him for the deficit spending and not moving forward with real immigration reform. Just because I lay into his policies doesn't mean I hate him. The one time I met him he seemed like quite a likable fellow.

I oppose that plan simply because we have a huge problem accurately measuring GNP, and the same people that are spending too much money will be the one's deciding how we measure it.

I think we need a plan that forces us to cover not only all expenses, but not less than 5% of the national debt annually, with the 5% a constant dollar figure rather than one which is reduced as the debt is reduced. I would maintain that figure for not less than 10-years.

I would take being a RINO over being a CINO any day of the week.

I support President Bush, but I also disagree with both the size of our deficit and our failure to control illegal immigration.

Some of these guys are already making threats on FR that they will vote for Hillary because she said something about illegal immigration that gave them the orgasm. Although they know she is absolutely lying they still get their orgasm.

And yep living in Socialist USA under Hillary does not matter at all, and does not matter liberals judges and Supreme courts, more abortion laws to kill more babies, anti gun laws, taxes to the eye ball, socialist health care system, U.N and Europe controlling our foreign policy, all these things do not mater at all as long they get their "Phonic Pleasure" of hearing Hillary or the devil in that matter speaking against illegal immigration.

It is just unbelievable!

He didn't endorse civil unions. He endorsed the rights of states to do what their legislatures will in regard to civil unions. He expressly stated that if he were still Governor of Texas, he would oppose civil unions in Texas. I heard him.

People only got that part of his remarks where he leaves it up to states. And of course states would have that right, unless it was outlawed in the Constitution at the same time gay marriage would be outlawed. That could never happen. You know it never could.

Also, do you not agree with tax cuts? Signing the law against Partial Birth Abortion? Not allowing stem cell research to create embryos in order to destroy them through research? Preventing foreign aid from going to promote abortion overseas? Declaring the ABM treaty with the Soviet Union dead so we can work on a defensive missile system? Declaring Kyoto dead? Refusing to sign on to the World Court? Pushing for an energy policy which includes drilling in Alaska's ANWR?

ANGER ON THE RIGHT

There is an undeniable fury building among Republican voters coast to coast. It has now been almost six months since that euphoric day last year -- November 2nd -- when Republicans stunned Democrats across the board. Not only did President Bush handily beat John Kerry, but the GOP did what few predicted -- it managed to pick up four seats in the Senate. John Thune's victory over Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle in South Dakota was extra sweet. That seems like six years ago, not six months ago. Talk to your average Republican voter today and you will find a mood that ranges from anxious/concerned to enraged/frustrated. Yes, the Iraqi elections were amazing. Yes, the President's commitment to the spread of liberty is stalwart. Yes, his European "Unplugged" tour was a necessary step. The focus here is not President Bush (although in an ideal world he would be stronger on the stump on issues beyond social security reform). After the mid-term elections, President Bush will be on his way out, a "short-timer." The future of the Republican Party depends more on what happens now in Congress.

So what has our Republican majority in both houses of Congress gotten us lately? Well, the Terri Schiavo bill-regardless of what you think about its merits -- was at least bold. Then there was the bankruptcy bill. Good stuff, though hardly the legislation that will get voters running to the polls next election.

Of course being in the majority sometimes requires deal-making. Sometimes it requires delaying victory on one issue in order to win support on another more important issue. But sometimes being in the majority just requires that you act like you are in the majority.

This year, with a Republican majority in Congress, we have watched as 20 percent of the President's appellate court nominees are left twisting in the wind. With a Republican majority presiding, we have watched as John Bolton, the President's nominee for U.N. ambassador, has been personally and professionally maligned. With a Republican majority, we have seen spending skyrocket to obscene levels. With a Republican majority, we have seen the Democrats out-maneuver Republicans in the public-relations game with lame lines and gross misrepresentations.

Okay, the Senate did pass tort reform.

But a bill here or a bill there is simply not going to be enough to stem the tide of Republican voters' righteous anger about what many are calling "Creeping Wimpiness." Did thousands of volunteers work tirelessly to give the GOP this majority only to allow the minority to roll them on judges, policy, and other nominations? Did millions of generously open their wallets to the RNC only to see John McCain, Chuck Hagel, Lincoln Chafee, and George Voinovich help the Democrats when we needed them most?

Now is not the time for Republican Senators to cling to niceties. It is not the time to call for more discussions or negotiations. Now is the time for action. Allowing the Bolton nomination to be delayed was unforgivable. (Chairman Richard Lugar was caught totally off-guard by Voinovich's joining the Dems push to delay the Bolton vote.) Allowing Chuck Schumer and Barbara Boxer to brand nominees such as Janice Rogers Brown (an African American California Supreme Court justice) "extreme", was a colossal mistake. Most of the country still does not know that never before in the history of this country has the filibuster been used to block a vote of an appeals court nominee!

The frustration felt by many GOP voters has created a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for conservative politicians. For the first time in decades, we have no clear front-runner for the next GOP nomination. For the first time since George W. started his presidential campaign in the late 1990s, there is no clear standard-bearer for conservatives to rally round.

If a senator or governor can seize this moment, and create the type of bond with conservatives that Bush created during his nomination battle with McCain, that person could be on his way to the White House. If no one steps forward, and conservative voters increasingly watch their party kowtow to the McCains, Hagels, and Chafees of the mushy middle, then those voters will disengage from this party, meaning that the mainstream press will enjoy covering the elections of 2006 and 2008 a lot more than they enjoyed the election 2004.

I'd just like to add this. Silence from the right when Bush & McCain stood sidebyside saying the ad by the Swiftees was disgraceful; when Bush failed to bring John Kerry's traitorous actions to the fore during the campaign; when Bush calls it's own citizen 'vigilanties' for demanding border security, he is happy to provide to Iraq; is a sign, that he has lost his way and a Senate apparently unconcerned with voices of those paying the freight with both blood and treasure. I'll not be bound to party by blind loyalty. I'll not pretend that a crumb is good enough to keep me on the GOP reservation. It might be good enough for Democrats to keep voting dem for empty promises, but it ain't gonna fly with me.

"I'm suggesting that Bush may just be allowing a bottom-up solution that involves Mexican nationals that like both Mexico and America."

Sorry I don't buy that at all.

The illegals coming across OUR border are breaking the law.

They are good for nothing, they live 10-15 to a house throw their garbage in the yard, write grafitti where ever they can, drop anchor babies and abuse and bankrupt our medical system so they can get welfare and on and on it goes. Eventually they resort to crime to get more money.

There's more, but I don't need to explain this to the people that get this issue.

Oh, and ONE more thing. I don't want to have to log on to Free Republic one day to see a thread running that terrorists have attacked us again and that they came here through the southern border!!

Let's look at your statement in a bit of detail. Judges? Last I checked, Souter, Kennedy and O'Conner were appointed by Republican presidents. Abortion? I don't see any GOP effort to go after Roe v. Wade. Anti-gun laws? Bush said he's sign the Assault Weapons Ban if it were renewed. Taxes to the eyeballs? Lower taxes are nice, but lower spending is how you truly measure the size of government - and Bush has been abysmal there. Socialist health care? As I recall, Bush pushed for a massive increase in Medicare last term. UN control? Bush keeps going back to that bunch for affirmation - and both Clinton and Bush waged war without UN approval when it suited them.

The GOP is better than the Dems - but only by degree, and no longer by core principles. The Contract with American seems to have joined the Constitution at the bottom of the litter box. Having gained the reigns of power, they kinda like the carriage, and apparently have no desire to de-pimp their ride.

As long as we just take the abuse like a battered spouse and come back home every election, we'll keep getting kicked in the teeth after they have our votes safely in their pockets. They need to realize that they cannot take us for granted, that we are the driving force behind their political power - they may need to kowtow to moderates to win the presidency, but that does not mean they need to BE moderate on all positions once they've won.

>>It is not critic anymore, it is savage attack, period.<<

When you tell your child that you don't want him to do something and he does it anyway. How long does it take before you start to raise your voice?

I am fed up with the President because he is ignoring what Republicans and every other concerned citizen is saying about securing our borders!

The New World Order and this damn globalism is more important to him than protecting the US Constitution. If he doesn't want to obey his Oath of Office he knows where the door is!

At least O'Connor and Kennedy can be conservative at a time. How about Renquhist, Scalia and Thomas why you did not mention them? because there are very conservative judges appointed by Republican President.

Now how about Ginsberg and the other supreme court fellow nominated by Bill Clinton, these are the kind of left wing judges you will get from a Democrat President and even much worse from someone as liberal as Hillary Clinton (by the way she will never be President).

Abortion: Did President Bush and the GOP Congress banned the murder of partial birth abortion. I recall that Bill Clinton refused twice to sign ban on partial birth abortion bill, and I think you remember this as well. The fighting against Roe vs Wade is long and we will chip at it once at a time.

UN: President Bush has defied the UN and it stupid corrupted body more than other President before him. How about the war of liberation in Iraq? I recall that he went against the impotent UN on this one.
