A Houstonian armed to the teeth stands atop his pickup truck in the Arizona desert. He wishes to deter illegal immigrants from Mexico, but he and his confederates will fail. Border Patrol officials said some civilian observers set off motion detectors, complicating rather than aiding the agency's mission.

Mr. Gilchrist of the mmp said he was running a 'dog and pony show' and I think he is a buttinsky at best.
May I ask if you yourself, speak Spanish?
You can wish it is true all you want, but I was there and there was no anemic turnout. As has been stated on FR before, the MMP never expected all 1,000 volunteers to show up on the first day. Over the length of the entire month there will be a total of 1,000 or more volunteers taking part in the project. It is nowhere close to coming to a standstill, but is proving to be successful (I know, you're deeply saddened over this) and will spawn a number of similar Minuteman Projects all along the border.
Funny how you can look at the entire article which mentions the attention that the project is bringing to the border and all you can focus on is some lie about the "anemic" turnout. Do you hold Free Republic to the same standard? Have you attacked Free Republic and its efforts for the anemic turnout at March for Justice II and the utter lack of media coverage or even updates on FR? No, I didn't think so. Nor should Free Republic be attacked as any effort, no matter how small, to secure the country, defend our freedoms, etc. should be given the credit it deserves.
Howdy Spiff.
Very well said!
One would think that locals like me and the other local participants and supporters of the Minuteman Project would be best to judge if the project was set up by "buttinskeys". Don't confuse harrowup with the facts.
Anyway, you may want to add "buttinskeys" to your list of stupid names that the Minuteman Project volunteers and organizers have been called here.
The Minuteman Project organizers worked with Border Patrol to ensure that the observation posts were not near the sensors and that volunteers would avoid walking where they might activate the sensors. The Minuteman Project organizers have stated that the sensors are being activated by the ACLU "legal observers" and media types tromping through the brush where they should not be.
First off, the stated goal is to raise awareness of what is going on at the border. Tell me how many citizens don't know about that already?
Second, these type of operations have been tried before with bad results. When Ranch Rescue pistol-whipped those illegals in South Texas, they created bad press. Prior to that, Ranch Rescue ran an operation with the Rebublic of Texas kooks and that created bad press. More recently, during one of the smaller operations along the Arizona border, one of the participants had a run-in with a Park Ranger.
With a history like this, everyone expects bad results. Consequently, when a rinky-dink such as Barton come along, everyon says I told you so.
So, lets say MMP gets thru this without a major incident, what happens next?
Someone will run another operation of this type. And another. And another.
Eventually, likely sooner than later, one of the subsequent operations will create an incident and everything goes down the drain.
Militia type operations will only fail. You might consider hiring a public relations firm to help you.
So you are down on congress are you.
You did say dog and pony show didn't you?
I would like both you Ben Ficklin and Harrowup to outline what your plan for solving the illegal immigration problem and what if anything you would do to secure the border. thanks
I find the brave Minutemen Project MUCH more effective than George W. Bush's continued dog and pony show.
You tell me yours.
Why is that a better idea? lol Ok easy answer. An expanded, if necessary, guest worker program to meet legit labor needs, and a secure border. Details up for debate. Your turn.
As I recall, this Casey Netrhercott is the man that was involved in pistol whipping the illegals in south Texas. Even worse than that, he had previously detained a group of illegals, taken their shoes away from them and abandoned them in the south Texas brush country.
Which of the reform bills in Congress do you think is best?
Bushes proposal doesnt on its face seems a possibility. I havent read through the bills and cant claim the nuts and bolts knowlege that Ive seen that you have. Im not really interested in nuts and bolts right here. I support a guest worker program that would address legit labor needs . Meaning it would be limited. So not everybody that wanted to come could come. They would likely try anyway so the borders would have to be secured. You support secure borders? What exactly does "secure" borders mean to you?
You know as well as I know Nethercutt was aquitted of those charges. Again illegal aliens come to America and LIE about Americans. Rinos seems to love the illegal aliens LIES. It gives Rinos a feeling of importance, doesn't it?
