Prosecutor: Woman Stabbed Boyfriend Over Monopoly, Uno Game, Woman Charged With First-Degree Murder

CHICAGO -- Police said a quarrel over parlor games prompted a woman to fatally stab her boyfriend in the chest last week.

Patrice Black, 37, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday on a charge of first-degree murder.

Black, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend of five years, Allen McDowell, 37, in the chest with a steak knife during a quarrel over the games of Monopoly and Uno, Assistant State's Attorney Mark Hitt said.

Black was being held on $500,000 bond.

While at home Thursday night with her 14-year-old daughter and boyfriend, Black asked McDowell if he would play the two games, and the boyfriend refused to play either one, Hitt said.

McDowell then walked away to a bedroom to sleep, and Black followed him into the room and began to argue with him, according to Hitt. She ordered him out of the apartment, and McDowell pleaded to stay, saying that it was cold outside, Hitt said.

When the quarrel escalated the daughter attempted to call 911, but Black kept unplugging the telephone, Hitt said.

Hitt alleged that Black then grabbed a steak knife from a dish rack and stabbed McDowell in the chest.

McDowell, 37, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Hitt contended that McDowell's life would have been saved if police had been contacted earlier. Not only would Black not allow her daughter to call police, but when they arrived, she would not let them into the home when police tried buzzing up to the apartment and knocking on doors, the prosecutor said.

While police tried to gain access to the apartment, Black began to try to cover up the stabbing by mopping up the blood on the kitchen floor, Hitt said.

When they finally were able to enter the apartment, they heard the victim moaning, and discovered him on his knees bleeding profusely, Hitt said.

A Wentworth Area sergeant said the woman did not resist arrest and later admitted the stabbing in a videotaped confession.

Do you think they'll accept $500,000 in monopoly money for her bail?

Sounds like we need a 7 day waiting period for passing 'Go' and collecting $200.

Posts like this that I've put on the news/activism board, such as the Welshman who chopped of his testicles after a rugby match went against his prediction, have been moved here by the mods. So I posted it here, to save the mods the effort.
