For all of those who have called me every imaginable name because I dare to suggest that there are some things worse than death...I don't wish you on you anything that poor woman goes through on a minute by minute basis. Because you know so much, and are so sure that you are right because you are all so freakin self-righteous...I'm leaving FreeRepublic because I no longer want to be a part of something that has become so twisted. Hannity is right, this website has been hijacked. It was a good run...but we'll find another place. Save your jabs, I won't be reading them. To those who have privately agreed with me, and there are many, thank you. I'm just worn out and frankly, don't even care what most here think.

I am back. I see you missed me while I was gone. I will answer any question you have based on facts. So far, all I see are your impotent emotional rants based on feelings. Go for it.

If we located Ossama Ben Lauden and his illness had caused a lack of oxygen to his brain causing irreparable brain death, would you also call for him to be turned over to his family because he deserves to live? Or is it just Caucasian Terri that must be saved because of her cheating husband? I really want to know where your emotions are coming from on this case. You baffle me.
A healthy debate is demanded for subjects like this one. Frankly, other than my father passing away while serving our country I have never discussed with my spouse what I want. This and threads like this one changed that and I hope it did the same for others.
I have been told they do not know where I stand. It is a tough call, and if I were to say I agree with the husband then I in turn am called a murderer and I am NOT to disagree means for me to be called names, how sad. We are at that crossroad. With technology she and others like her are alive beyond the time God expected from one of His children. I never envisioned that technology would be where it is today and many wonderful things have occurred as a result. Many sad things have occurred as well. Folks that years ago would have passes peacefully are kept alive on machines and if it were ME I would choose not to live that way. I suppose that makes me a murderer of my own body but my spirit is a whole different ball game and I am certain my spirit will go with God.
To starve a human being seems the cruelest way of allowing a person to die with dignity. But, evidently that is where we are. Laws perhaps need to be entertained to find more humane ways for loved one's to leave this life. Those who are considered CVS. Those on death row receive an injection way more humane. Our pets also receive better treatment. This is perhaps where I hope this discussion will go, to find ways to ensure this does not happen to a person we love or worse to any one of us.
Hildy, you have many wonderful friends on FR, like 68 grunt and it has been a pleasure to read their comments to you. We perhaps do not cross paths I generally post articles of military news but I have found this thread quite informative.

Like most who are promoting the culture of death, you are confused about the differences between killing the innocent and executing the guilty. In Osama's case, I would support a bullet in the brain at the earliest possible moment. How about you??

There has been a pattern on these Terri thread the past week or so.
A troll appears, posts outrageous rantings, and then some of us take the bait. Other trolls then suddenly come to the aid of their partner-in-crime.
After a while the thread degenerates into name-calling and the hurling of insults back and forth.
Someone then hits the abuse button, and guess what?
THE THREAD IS PULLED.
IT DISAPPEARS, ALONG WITH THE GOOD LINKS AND RESEARCH THAT IT CONTAINS.
And the trolls move on to another Terri thread, and the process is repeated.
I believe the best strategy, for Terri's sake, is to IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE.
And then ignore some more.

In both cases, I recommend removing the feeding tube. Puting a bullet into a brain dead Ossama would accomplish nothing but exact your emotional revenge. When your brain is gone, you are gone.
I am trying to understand your reasons for your position and all I get back is emotions based on feelings.
Do you believe Terri's doctors lost a malpractice suit due to not diagnosing her bulimia and causing her brain brain damage?

My definition of death is when there is no higher brain activity. In this case, there is no higher brain present. As I have pointed out earlier, I have been through this before in Viet Nam.
If I thought she had any chance of ever recovering, I would be on your side in a heart beat. I have a living will and have instructed everyone possibly involved that if I am ever in Terri's situation, please err on the side of pulling the feeding tube too soon and never second guess your action.

I agree that there is a time to engage them in discussion, but the vast majority of them are not interested in rational debate. They just want to get the threads pulled by the moderators. It's been happening a lot this past week.
I was on two threads that got pulled the same night. There was some great research and points being made for Terri that were thrown down the "memory hole" , a la Orwell's 1984.
Here is their tactic: They refuse to answer your inital objections to their faulty reasoning and outright factual misstatement, go off on an entirely different subject, and/or launch a personal attack. They also increase the outrageous level of their calls for Terri's death, and boy, they know how to push buttons!
Terri supporters take the bait, and then the whole thing just deteriorates.
I would talk to them up to a point, then when they are exposed for what they are, I would ignore them.
Don't give them the satisfaction of getting threads pulled.
I have friends that are Republican and friends that are Democrat. I have friends that are very religious and friends that are atheist. I have friends that are CEO’s of businesses and friends that clean toilets for a living. I have friends that are straight and friends that are gay. I don’t have any friends that have totally closed minds.
This has been their tactic for years.
I would agree with you about how to deal with them on the Terri threads.
