For all of those who have called me every imaginable name because I dare to suggest that there are some things worse than death...I don't wish you on you anything that poor woman goes through on a minute by minute basis. Because you know so much, and are so sure that you are right because you are all so freakin self-righteous...I'm leaving FreeRepublic because I no longer want to be a part of something that has become so twisted. Hannity is right, this website has been hijacked. It was a good run...but we'll find another place. Save your jabs, I won't be reading them. To those who have privately agreed with me, and there are many, thank you. I'm just worn out and frankly, don't even care what most here think.

Hildy - please try to ignore the zealots. FR is a great place still, just when political news is slow the radical right come out to play. I haven't met a Christian medical worker (physician, PTs, nurse, etc., etc.) yet who would want to be in Terri's place, who would not have wanted the feeding tube pulled years ago. And I know a lot of Christian nurses, doctors, and ancillary medical staff. This is a hot discussion topic among anyone with any medical connections at all. The vast majority are in total agreement with a desire not to continue an unsustainable "life" as the zealots call it.
Just try to hang on, ignore any threads having to do with right to life, and be sure your own advance directives are in order and on file with someone you trust implicitly. If there are any relatives who might tend to the zealot behavior, specify that their desires not be considered in your final wishes.
I have not seen this on the threads I have been on.
I have also seen others come onto other threads and claim mistreatment on previous threads and CONTINUE the "in fighting" with others who have had NOTHING to do with the prior "engagement".
I find this pattern uncalled for.
If posters here have problems with oithers, carry the argument with THEM,
NOT others who happen to cross their paths.
A caution flag is ahead.

Just because a feeding tube is pulled (or not reinserted when due to be changed) doesn't mean a miracle can't still happen. Maybe she'll start walking and talking the day after. Then again, maybe not, and because there is no cerebral function left above the brainstem she'll die, as she would have without medical intervention years ago.
