WASHINGTON Pot. Cannabis. Hemp. Weed. Grass.
The herb takes many names. But in the nations capital, where the marijuana lobby (search) was once the recreational diversion of Playboy Magazine's Hugh Hefner, pro-pot special interest groups have crystallized the divergent issues behind the plant and gained a seemingly unified voice.
________________ Puff, Cough, Puff, Cough________________
"Its a no-brainer. It makes no sense putting old and sick folks in jail for an herb that makes them feel better," said Bruce Mirken, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project (search), which was established in 1995 by Rob Kampia, a former mainstay at the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, the first pro-pot lobby in Washington, D.C.

Oh no. I used a partial quote to clarify your real intent. Actually, I think the following is probably the clearest as to how you feel: "I don't care how many kids smoke pot as long as pot is legal for adults." Isn't that basically how you feel?
So you are a mind reader now? Sounds like another lie to me.

Your statement, "I don't care how many kids smoke pot as long as they don't have to deal with crack-heads and meth dealers" either means that you wish to legalize pot or you wish to execute all "crack-heads and meth dealers."
I'm trying to clarify your statement. Would the statement, ""I don't care how many kids smoke pot as long as pot is legal for adults" better describe your position?
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
To: robertpaulsen
You are wrong on all counts.

Correction: You are right that I would like pot to be legal. Your assumptions as to my motivations is wrong.

"You are right that I would like pot to be legal."See? We're making progress.
Now, if it could be shown that legalizing pot for adults would result in an increase of pot smoking among kids, would you then be against the legalization of pot?
Or don't you care?
To: .cnI redruM
Whoop dee doo. I could care less if someone wants to smoke pot recreationally or for medicine. Anyways, we need pot, who is gonna work the sh*t jobs and keep these people happy.

ROFL!
You said in post #307:
"Without having been there at the time, it is difficult to prove. But I think it is more likely that he grew a sativa strain. Indica isn't native to this hemisphere"
I agreed with you that he grew Sativa!
I don't understand...Do you want me to prove your claim is valid for you?
This began with my reference to one of several of Washington's diary entries that clearly show he also grew Indica. Those entries also clearly show that he was using a method to increase the potency, not fiber, of the Indica.
I've already posted a link to the Omega Database on this thread. There you can read about Jefferson's masterminding of a smuggling operation to get Indica seeds to America while he was Envoy to France. Cannabis was a commercial crop in America long before Jefferson was born, let alone Envoy to France!
If you haven't got your own copy of Wasington's Diary, just type washington diary into any search engine. You will get thousands of hits.
In the end, none of this really matters. It is just interesting to early American history buffs.
The questions now are:
Is Cannabis a dangerous drug that should be prohibited?
Does Cannabis Prohibition contribute to teen Meth use?
Is Cannabis Prohibition based on fact or propaganda?
Should we base our laws on reason or myth?

Now, if it could be shown that legalizing pot for adults would result in an increase of pot smoking among kids, would you then be against the legalization of pot? Or don't you care? For someone who has just been shown to be ethically and morally bankrupt in his debating practices and has shown no sense of guilt or apology for it the above attempt to herd me into an ethical corner with logic constructed from a false dichotomy is pathetic to say the least.

You must be losing the debate again. You've had to resort to asking loaded questions.

"I'm surprised you have not seen one of the greatest films ever, Animal House."Was drinking going on in that movie?
Change the name of the fraternity, and that movie is actually a documentary on my college experience.
To: jmc813
"Can we plaease go one thread without the "for the children" nonsense."Well then, I will certainly not be asking your position on child porn.
To: TigersEye
Pretty straight forward question. You don't want to answer it, fine.
But that demonstrates the problem with the Libertarian fantasy world. They just refuse to address the real consequences.
To: tacticalogic
"You've had to resort to asking loaded questions."Leading, not loaded.
And you see how well that worked. Some people will just not admit to an untenable position. They'd rather call names, like a frustrated third-grader.
To: robertpaulsen
Leading, not loaded. Dead nuts loaded.

Marijuana Prohibition contributes to teen Meth use...That's a real world consequence. Why do you want to encourage teen Meth use?

"Why do you want to encourage teen Meth use?"I don't, and I'm sure you don't either.
Will you join me in supporting the death penalty for meth drug dealers?
