In the last three months the obsessed minority of freepers but very vocal who hate President Bush have been bombarding us with every illegal immigration thread under the sun so they have their "BASH BUSH ORGY".
Since these freepers want to deport every illegal immigrant, here is the challenge for you:
Pick up your phone and report to the INS about an illegal immigrant and his employer. I am sure you know at least one illegal immigrant who works in a convenient store, on a gas station, clean the garbage in your office, clean the bathroom at your work place... And I am sure you know one of these employers who hire illegal immigrants. Go ahead Macho Guys, do your duty and report them to the INS. Let us see how courageous you are and let us see your action following your rhetoric.

OK, you asked for it. I have (while living in south Texas), repeatedly reported illegal immigrants. I was given lame excuses in each case. Finally after watching a news story about the BP turning loose 8 illegals it had chased through Fallfurias, TX (near where our President goes hunting btw), I decided to look further for help. I searched through the BCIS site until I found a number for an office in Vermont which takes complaints about BP inaction, etc. I phoned them, I phoned Houston, I phoned San Antonio. I filed a formal complaint against the regional offices.
I DO NOT use illegal immigration to "bash" President Bush. It is just a sore subject for me. I'm not even against LEGAL immigration, as my husband is a LEGAL immigrant.
A huge majority of the people in S. TX that hire illegal Mexican and S. American immigrants are themselves Hispanic. In Laredo for example only 4% of the population is "anglo" fewer than 1% of non-corporate businesses are owned by "anglos". They are only hurting us and themselves. And maybe it has escaped your attention that "white" Mexicans treat "brown" Mexicans like dirt. They subject them not only to harsh working conditions, but also degradation, sexual and physical abuse and often cruelty. Racism is NOT just a white persons game. I have lived and worked in Mexico with it's "underclasses", who are ignored by the "White Spanish" Mexicans. I know who's coming to dinner, and I don't mind setting a place for them as long as the bring a stone for the soup, and wash up before they go home.
The second thing that I would like to point out to you is that your lexis and sytax show that you speak English at a high beginner or intermediate level with Spanish as a first language. You wouldn't be harping on this issue for some hidden reason would you? Did La Raza or LULAC put you up to this? Are you an illegal resident of the USA?

If I knew the person to definitely be illegal, I would have no qualms (and in fact HAVE) reported someone in the past.
Unfortunately, people don't go around with stickers pasted on their foreheads proclaiming themselves to be legal or illegal.
My beef with illegals is not so much the security/terrorist issue, it is the fact that society is unable to absorb the huge influx. Thus we have pockets of people, many criminal types, who are resisting any assimilation into American society.
For those who think illegals are good for our society, I invite them to take a drive through just about any mid-sized city where there are blocks and blocks of families stuffed into homes, no english, much drugs, knife fights daily, with crime running rampant.
Of course there are good and bad in every ethnicity, but the large influx of central american illegals seems to be packed to the gills with gang members, drug dealers, and others looking to prey on the good nature of Americans.
Seems the author is this piece is getting his bell rung, and should.

Where did you get this rewritten history? Drago told you to look it up on Google six weeks ago. Here's a description from a Cato economist wonk (due to it's very name it's difficult to find references to Operation Wetback that aren't tainted by a writer's political agenda):

President Eisenhower instituted this operation due to cries from agricultural interests when too many of the "braceros" they brought in found industrial work to be far more lucrative than the pittance they were paid by the growers. Post WWII America also had no more need for the Mexicans who (like women as a group) shored up the labor shortage the war caused. When the troops were decommissioned the women went back to their traditional roles as homemakers and the Mexicans were distinctly alien bodies in the way of societies returning heroes (yet another instance of a group's refusal to assimilate with their host society backfiring on them).
One thing the economist failed to mention was the way illegal immigrants began to self-deport as word of the operation spread. Some estimates account for around half a million self-deporting, far more than the number actually rounded up and forcibly deported. This is why I maintain on these threads that just beginning prosecutions of the blatant employers, cutting as many services as possible, a serious crackdown on document frauds and making the motions toward mass roundups will find a seeming miracle occur - mass exodus of illegals on their own dime. Hopefully they'll finally take up the long put-off business of improving their own governments and societies.
