President Bush cannot push his guest-worker program for illegal immigrants and new foreign workers and still win reforms to Social Security or the tax code, congressional opponents said yesterday.
"There are a lot of ambitious plans, a lot of necessary reforms that need to take place, but this rush toward amnesty-light should not be one of the priorities," said Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Arizona Republican, who called himself a friend and political ally of the president, but said Mr. Bush's immigration proposal would hurt his broader legislative agenda.

another caption... let me move some stuff outta the way for you fellas'
mysto's statement was accurate, so he appears to be brighter than you.
Being more concerned about cheap labor than airplane crashing terrorists is bright?
Misto is brand new here, what's your excuse?
[snip]
"...TIME estimates, based on longtime government formulas for calculating how many elude capture, that as many as 190,000 illegals from countries other than Mexico have melted into the U.S. population so far this year.
The border patrol, which is run by the Department of Homeland Security, refuses to break down OTMs by country. But local law officers, ranchers and others who confront the issue daily tell TIME they have encountered not only a wide variety of Latin Americans (from Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, Nicaragua and Venezuela) but also intruders from Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Russia and China as well as Egypt, Iran and Iraq.
Law-enforcement authorities believe the mass movement of illegals, wherever they are from, offers the perfect cover for terrorists seeking to enter the U.S., especially since tighter controls have been imposed at airports."
The Lakers will win the NBA Championship ten consecutive years. Mongering can be fun!.
Too which I would add:
No greater injury can be done to any race than to relegate them to be slaves, or migrant guest workers, both having NO vested interest in the country that they live and work in.
Did you notice the numbers? 10 million people but only 6 million working. So I guess they dont all come here to work. I guess that some come her to steal our benefits. Or for every one working there are almost two that dont work.
"We have fences in California and El Paso.
Yes. With large unfinished areas.
"Immigrants still get thru."
-yes... through the large unfinished areas
"They cut thru them, climb over them and tunnel under them."
-Not through a properly constructed fence/ border wall they won't.
"And your post says bombings have only been reduced 50%.
-Yes. 50% *less* dead and maimed people from suicide bombers. What a tragedy.
"A fence can't stop 100% from crossing, much less stop immigrants from entering by air and sea."
Nope, you're right. But it would slow down the amount to a manageble number that can be deported. Right now, there are so many, 3 million last year, that folks rightly say "you can't deport millions illegal aliens."
...and any effort to cut down on the number of people sneaking in, is discouraged by the same folks who say we can't deport them. Quite a little head game there...
"We already stop at least 33%..."
-Great! ...and a border wall fence will stop another large percentage, without having to chase them through the desert, harass them, detain them, deport them, etc.
It might actually encourage immigrants to come here legally, and apply for a green card!
And NOBODY is going to "cut thru them, climb over them and tunnel under" a properly designed border wall. One that doesn't have to be nearly as elaborate as this one below (Israels):

Risk? What risk? Do you think employers are concerned about hiring illegal aliens right now? What would change if a guest worker program is created? There's practically no enforcement of federal laws against employers hiring illegal aliens right now. Is the federal government suddenly going to start aggressively enforcing laws against employers hiring illegal aliens when they haven't made any more than the most feeble attempt at enforcement over the past 20 years or so?
PRND21: You're not bright, newbie. You'll fit right in on these threads.
This is what mysto said and this is your response to what he said.
mysto's comment is accurate because 90% or more of all illegal aliens cross over our southern border.
Because a documented worker would cost him SS and taxes. Employers who hire these people screw the system at honest citizens' expense.
Plus a border wall/fence doesn't have to be 3000 miles long. There are some border places the illegal aliens will never want to cross. That are too remote from roads and population. My guess is only 1500-2000 miles of the Mexican need an Israel style border fence right away. More fence can always go up where needed.
lol! ...mint julep...
I doubt it because of his history. Even before he was TX Governor, IIRC, there were dealings with Mexico like this. I'm going from memory, so you may want to research it.
Do you state as a "fact" that President Bush is proposing amnesty for illegal aliens? If so that is not a "fact", that is a lie.
I have no idea where you're coming from. As usual. I use federal immigration laws as "facts".
It is also a "fact" that there are hundreds or thousands of these people entering the US illegally on a daily basis. It is a "fact" that our government is not detaining and deporting these people as is required by federal law.
So, the next time you post to me don't try to read my mind and ask me stupid questions. Thanks.
You are stupid
You think everyone else is stupid
Or both
Yeah, I recall reading that article last year while whiling away my time sitting in a doctors office.
No problem, please send us a picture of you being first in line applying for a janitorial or housekeeping position.
