President Bush cannot push his guest-worker program for illegal immigrants and new foreign workers and still win reforms to Social Security or the tax code, congressional opponents said yesterday.
"There are a lot of ambitious plans, a lot of necessary reforms that need to take place, but this rush toward amnesty-light should not be one of the priorities," said Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Arizona Republican, who called himself a friend and political ally of the president, but said Mr. Bush's immigration proposal would hurt his broader legislative agenda.

Kind of makes you wonder why he wants them gone so badly huh? He wants them out of Mexico NOW!!! Yet they are the people of Mexico -- it's their homeland, they are the most Mexican of the people of that country. Yet they must leave, Fox demands that.
Go back through my posting history and you'll see that I have.
Reality is difficult for you to see isn't it. Our President certainly does not have a closed border policy. 5000 illegals are coming across EVERY NIGHT.
Sorry, but you are lying, not me.
The US had a legal guest worker program even before the Ted Kennedy stuff. If there are gaps in employment in certain industries then why can't we do it legally? Why do we have to tolerate a virtual human invasion?
I stopped wasting my time with these sell out, anti American commies, and open border socialist. That is what they clearly are. There are probably 10 or 20 of them on this site. I have nothing but contempt for them and their political celebrity hacks.

Yeah...DUH!!!! Devoid of excrement;)
Dude, I am having extreme visions of Col. Sanders here. Cut it out!! LOL! Great information, thanks.
Read this. I just stole it from another freeper.
From a speech by Booker T. Washington, 1895, Atlanta:
"...To those of the white race who look to the incoming of those of foreign birth and strange tongue and habits for the prosperity of the South, were I permitted I would repeat what I say to my own race, "Cast down your bucket where you are." Cast it down among the eight millions of Negroes whose habits you know, whose fidelity and love you have tested in days when to have proved treacherous meant the ruin of your firesides. Cast down your bucket among these people who have, without strikes and labour wars, tilled your fields, cleared your forests, builded your railroads and cities, and brought forth treasures from the bowels of the earth, and helped make possible this magnificent representation of the progress of the South. Casting down your bucket among my people, helping and encouraging them as you are doing on these grounds, and to the education of head, hand and heart, you will find that they will buy your surplus land, make blossom the waste places in your fields, and run your factories..."
"We need more immigrant workers. "
Last word I'm giving you, rod.
NO!! WE don't need more ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. YOU do!
And the rest of us are sick of paying for it. Subsidize yourself.

Clearly not!
What we see is a out of control problem that will do severe damage via un-assimillated populations.
I find it amusing that the anti-immigration cabal on FR has been infiltrated by neo-nazis and bigots while you celebrate what you think is a growing political force.
What this article really says is that the do nothing crowd has won. America has purchased another period of "Do Nothing" as this problem grows to a crisis.
When the bubble pops, the only doable thing that will be possible is the real dreaded amnesty you have inappropriately labeled the Bush proposal.
The amnesty that will come is going to be the real deal out of necessity and not out of proper planning.
Enjoy! You have all earned it. Once the society begins to lose it's cohesion, the Commies that you fear now will actually be a real concern as they have been in Europe with similar uncontrolled immigration problems that were not dealt with soon enough and now cannot be.
Your contempt will need to be self directed.
Bush had a good idea that would transition us back to a more normal transitory immigration pattern and at the same time clean up the underground economy that supports them on a year round basis with un taxed wages.
The status quo will prevail now, as support is not enough to pass anything. Crossings will continue. Your chance to rectify it has passed.
Ya might want to save this post for a reading in 2008, when the crap is so deep that no amount of shoveling will do any good.
You will then get your amnesty that you have worried about, but this time you will have created the need for it.
Do you believe legalizing illegal workers will take pressure off U.S. borders, as President Bush suggests?

You better be careful in making insinuations like that or you could get yourself banned.
You aren't a racist, why do you begrudge our welcoming of Hispanics into our community?
California considers immigrants a problem because they lower the educational achievement level, so they increase taxes to pay teachers more and whine to Washington about illegal immigrants. Texas considers immigrants an asset; educates them to be work force ready, and lures companies away from California with lower taxes and a better work force.
Loa Angles, which is many times larger than Houston has one-third the police officers. LA has a gang problem and treats it as an immigration problem instead of a crime problem. Gangs were treated as a crime problem instead of an immigration problem in the 80s in Houston and are now not a significant problem.
Promises, promises.
More racist accusations, name-calling, and anti-American rhetoric from bayourod. Enjoy your next La Raza meeting.
" FR has been infiltrated by neo-nazis and bigots "
Name one, and prove it by postings!!!!

And as for the Canadian border, I'm not as worried about it... the one we need to defend is the Mexican border because that's where most of the illegals get in.
Americans want all foreigners, whether they be Mexican, German, Chinese, or Ethiopian, to come to the United States through proper legal channels. But you don't seem to grasp that simple concept because with you it is always about race and never about the law.
So? Do you have some point to make?
The entire population of the U.S., including illegal immigrants only increased 1% last year. We need more immigrants in order to continue to expand our economy and we need them to be legal.
The labor market is so tight now that if you can't get a job =, or if your employer doesn't think you are worth as much as you think you are worth, sealing the borders isn't going to change that.
New poll up for you neoracyites. LOL!!
