Muslims decry '24' depiction

The first new episode this season of Fox's "24" has yet to hit the screen and already the network has offended a Muslim group. After viewing a portion of the first episode included on a DVD in Entertainment Weekly, officials from the Council on American-Islamic Relations expressed dismay at the depiction of a Muslim family.
"At first I was shocked," organization spokeswoman Rabiah Ahmed told the Daily News. "In this particular case, they show an American-Muslim family and they portray them as terrorists."
Ahmed was alerted to the 24-minute promotional DVD earlier this week.
At issue is a scene in which a teenager helps his parents plot to kill Americans.
"What we will accomplish today will change the world," the father tells the son over breakfast. "We are fortunate that our family has been chosen to do this."
Ahmed said the scene "casts a cloud of suspicion over every American-Muslim family out there."
A Fox spokesman said the company had no comment.
Ahmed acknowledged the possibility that in the remaining half of the first episode - which was not on the promotional DVD - the story line could have indicated this was not a typical family.
In fact, based on preview episodes sent to critics for the start of the "24" season, while the family appears traditional on the surface, they turn out to be a sleeper terrorist cell.
Such a story line is not unusual for "24," which centers on Kiefer Sutherland, as Jack Bauer, an counterterrorism agent who works for the secretary of defense.
Shocked, shocked! that there is gambling going on in this establishment...
The real insult is to piss on our leg while telling us it's just rain when they want us believe Islamics are not terrorists ... when about 99.999% of all terrorist activities in the world are directly related to it.
Good!
The writers, producers/directors of 24 must have gotten a lot emails telling them that they jumped the Shark by making evil rich white Americans the terrorists in the last couple of sessions of 24.
Hmm...that's interesting for them to say. It happens.
The truth hurts most to those who cry the most.......
Truth hurts, Mo-ham-head?
If the shoe or in this case the homocide bombers vest fit wear it.
Muslims as terrorists?? Whodda thunk??
If the explosive belt fits...
I felt the same way when I read it. How about a post with the time and date of the first airing?
And this hasn't already happened in real life?
Ahmed said the scene "casts a cloud of suspicion over every American-Muslim family out there."
No, Ahmed. You and your Muslim folk can clear that cloud yourselves by standing up and publically denouncing the bastards who run jet airliners through our buildings. The silence of your majority doesn't clear the air.
Nah, we already have a show like that, Law & Order. It takes place in the alternate reality where only white rich people commit murders in New York.
So now we are forbade to make a film or television show that has an antagonist that is a Muslim. Used to be, terrorists were the old standby on bad guys in movies after the cold war. Now, after Muslim terrorists actually cause some real damage, Hollywood surrenders and the new bad guy du jour is Mr. Rightwing nut.
CAIR needs to ask itself one simple question:
"Who is committing 99% of the terrorism going on in the world today?"
The answer to this question is why "24" did what it did.
Don't forget, to Hollywood, the IRA and Irish-Catholics the mob & Italian -Americans are always "safe" groups to malign.
