The Magic Zorillo music is really dark tech; kind of a sinister chillout Jean Michel Jarre. I checked out "natives on freud", "super nova", ozone spray gun", and "pamela's three rings". There's tension and dissonance to it, like the soundtrack to a cliffhanger, but it's so chill it comes off as more of a sonic mystery story; a psychedelic Leo Margulies musical.

Cool, man.

Yeah, they have a number of avante-garde musical influences to draw from.

I think one of the main personalities that Pepper cited-when I questioned him on this subject for an ethnography I was doing on local musical genres within New York City-was John Cage, though I think they rely more upon recent innovators, both from Europe and Iceland, which I've heard has a very vibrant techno/trans/electronica music industry.

That might have something to do with the presence of United States military personnel for such an extended period of time on that island, but to be honest, I don't have enough insight into the Icelandic music industry to explain the phenomenon.
