Hey, about last night...

(Original, no?)

I didn't realize the thread was so thinly populated after Bob clocked out. I peeked in this morning for a minute and was mortified to see that you'd been stranded out on the dance floor by yourself. Dressed to the nines -- or maybe the tens, or even the elevens -- with the good music rollin' and...nobody???

Next time I'll stick around after I drop the needle in the groove. At least then, if nobody else takes the floor, I can clamber down from the DJ's booth and do the honors myself.

What's the craic?

Well actually, it's the crack - some idiot artificially gaelicised the word, I spelled the word 'craic', instead of 'crack' - in case you would take me up the wrong way! LOL!

it's a word we use in Ireland that roughly means 'fun' or 'humour'

stranded out on the dance floor by yourself.

Don't worry about it. I'm used to it. But thanks for the offer for next time. :-)

In Geoffrey Chaucer’s fourteenth-century poem “The House of Fame,” the house has become a castle with as many windows as snowflakes, packed with sorceresses and jugglers, magicians and wizards, celebrated singers like Orpheus and humble minstrels with bagpipes. A half-foot of solid gold covers the ceiling, walls, and floor of the great hall, where Fame herself presides from a throne made of ruby, her head extending to heaven and her body covered with as many “tongues as on bestes heres.” Her herald, Eolus, the god of wind, holds a trumpet of Praise and a trumpet of Slander, blowing from them as Fame pleases.

That all sounds very nice, I suppose, but did they have a plesiosaur in the moat?

I should think not. I thought the plesiosaur was in the basement. (Oh, dear ... what's in the basement?)

We haven't been able to do a complete inventory of "what's in the basement" but it has a number of interesting areas.

First off, much of it has been excavated, and shored up with space-frame construction. We've put our glass factories and laboratories down there, and Dead Corpse operates some special purpose "workshops" where metals are forged.

I guess you're asking about some of the unusual critters that inhabit this realm. I suppose it's my fault. I selected this area specifically for the unusual characteristics it seemed to have after the meteoric impact.

I guess I thought it would be a source of unusual materials. I didn't realize it would also attract esoteric life-forms, or those which simulate them.
