[history]
The deer hunter accused of killing six hunters and wounding two others in the woods of northern Wisconsin is believed to have resided in the Toledo area as a youth and attended Jones Junior High School.
Chai Vang, 36, of St. Paul, is listed as a student at the South Toledo school during the 1982-1983 school year, according to Toledo Public School documents.
Willie Braggs, a social studies teacher at Jones, said he remembers Mr. Vang as a student. "He was in my class in 1982 and he seemed like a pretty good student," Mr. Braggs said. "It was a real shock [to hear of the shootings]."
A wave of Laotian refugees was brought to the Toledo area in 1979 and the early 1980s. They were resettled here with the help of church groups and other local sponsors. It was not clear yesterday when Mr. Vang's family came to Toledo or when they left.
By 1994, only about 35 Hmong families remained in the area, largely because many families moved to other cities where there were more jobs available and larger concentrations of others in their ethnic group.
About 24,000 Hmong live in St. Paul.

Here it is:
John Diedrich, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Nov. 23 Law enforcement agencies are investigating if the man suspected of killing six deer hunters and injuring two others was involved in the unsolved slaying of a deer hunter three years ago in a nearby Wisconsin county, a detective said Tuesday. Clark County Sheriffs Department Detective Kerry Kirn said he has exchanged frequent calls with investigators in Sawyer County since Monday morning. I can tell you we have been in contact with authorities from Sawyer County to address that, Kirn said. It is premature to speculate if there is a connection. On Nov. 23, 2001, Jim Southworth was shot to death as he hunted on family land 10 miles east of Neillsville in one of the only other homicides ever to be linked to Wisconsins deer hunting season. Southworth was shot twice in the back and both bullets exited his chest, an autopsy found. Witnesses reported a pickup truck with three men inside on a road near where Southworths body was found, about 80 miles south of Sundays shooting. The three men were described as Asian from 5-foot-4-inches to 6-feet. They were driving a silver or gray Nissan or Chevrolet pickup truck, possibly a late 1980s model with a light-colored fiberglass topper. Chai Soua Vang, 36, of St. Paul, Minn., who is suspected of shooting eight hunters Sunday, is 5-foot-4-inches, according to a court document. Vang has owned a 1987 Nissan pickup, according to an online search service. According to court records, Vang allegedly shot several of Sundays victims in the back.

Hmmm, thanks. I pretty much lost track of this story over the past couple of days.

Not to mention his crystal ball.
I question his ability to know that "If they had just called the police everything would have been fine"
Not a logical position. Especially considering that the murderer hunted down and shot eight people, seven which were unarmed.

Oh but it does have to do with politics.
You have the odd notion that just calling the police is some kind of happy spell that will make everything all better.
That is the way a liberal thinks.
A conservative knows better.
