The deer hunter accused of killing six hunters and wounding two others in the woods of northern Wisconsin is believed to have resided in the Toledo area as a youth and attended Jones Junior High School.
Chai Vang, 36, of St. Paul, is listed as a student at the South Toledo school during the 1982-1983 school year, according to Toledo Public School documents.
Willie Braggs, a social studies teacher at Jones, said he remembers Mr. Vang as a student. "He was in my class in 1982 and he seemed like a pretty good student," Mr. Braggs said. "It was a real shock [to hear of the shootings]."
A wave of Laotian refugees was brought to the Toledo area in 1979 and the early 1980s. They were resettled here with the help of church groups and other local sponsors. It was not clear yesterday when Mr. Vang's family came to Toledo or when they left.
By 1994, only about 35 Hmong families remained in the area, largely because many families moved to other cities where there were more jobs available and larger concentrations of others in their ethnic group.
About 24,000 Hmong live in St. Paul.

"I don't understand why credo is in trouble. Have I missed something?"
I can't quite figure it out either.
me neither. jeeez.
Oh? You now have god like powers and can see the future? How nice.
Just as likely what would have happened if they had called the police is after losing the entire day just to have the cop go up to him and say "Hey buddy this is private land." They would have gone out the next morning and he would have shot them from ambush just as he did this time!
If he was capable of doing that over being asked to leave how much more angry was he going to be over having the police called on him?
OK. MY problem, and I'm speaking only for myself...if I came onto a thread that I had only an opinion about, had not researched the facts or read the threads prior to this one, and started disputing people who HAVE done so...I'd be expected to be lamblasted, too.
There are MANY OF US on these threads who know that area, and know what we're talking about. I'd just walk away from the thread and not make a fuss.
But that's just me.
Has anyone mentioned that the police think this guy killed another hunter a few years ago?
I spent 30 mos with REAL Hmongs in 'Nam, in counter-insurgency-ops in the DMZ, Laos and Cambodia; none murdered Americans in cold blood, troll.
Bad try, troll.
Absolutely. But the guy calling his buddies to confer with was what most people would've done. What happened after that?
Ease up..I wish it had turned out differently..There are always lingering what ifs and if onlys...The question may have been something you would not have done or would never have been thought of by these hunters, might have been impractical but it isn't troll like IMHO..I saw no blaming the victims.
Concerning this thread: Our "professional", "reliable" MSM messes up again. It's not the same person.
You're welcome.
I was wounded 4x in 'Nam. Any questions?

Criminey! No, I haven't read that, why do they think that?
