I have heard Alan Keyes called a carpetbagger because he is from Maryland. But I have not heard Obama called a carpet bagger and this confuses me. Obama was not born in Illinois, he was born in Hawaii. I bet Alan Keyes was born closer to Illinois.
Obama's mother was a white woman from Kansas, his father was African, Keyes' roots lie in slaves brought here from Africa, sold into slavery by Obama's ancestors, yet Obama better represents Illinois blacks.
Obama was raised a Muslim like his father and his step father who moved him it Indonesia where he was raised as a Muslim. Keyes is a Catholic. Obama claims to be Christian, a member of the United Church of Christ, check it out, they are not Baptists.
Obama went to school on the East Coast and returned to Illinois to begin his political career in Chicago in the 1990's. He is a teacher. He worked to get Bill Clinton elected. They say Illinois is a liberal state and Kerry will win here.
I do not know but from where I sit Obama is the carpetbagger, not Alan Keyes.

I too, am an Illinois voter and one question I won't have to answer when I meet my Maker is: "Why did you help elect someone who was in favor of killing innocents?"

Unless the Senate, House and Presidency become democrat majorities, then a Republican from Maryland will better represent Illinois voters.
In actuality, the candidate who gets the most votes cast in Illinois on November 2nd is the one who is better-qualified to represent Illinois voters.
It's up to Alan Keyes to make the case to Illinois voters...and he's done an execrable job of making that case.

You want to discuss voting records? People will not listen to this, they react to things like a person who hides things like their drug addiction and where they were raised and how they were raised. People relate to these things, not voting records, look at the presidentail race, what are people looking at, not Kerry's voting record.
While some of the arguments made here might have some small use when trying to sway some ignorant Obama supporter on the streets of Chicago, I don't think talking about this subject is particularly useful just now to our efforts to elect Alan to the Senate.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist or theologian to pick up the Bible and read the criteria, and then do our best to ascertain whether certain people oppose or fail to meet the criteria. BTW, the Bible actually instructs us to do just that.
