THE STATE OF THE CREATION MOVEMENT [Hysterically Amusing]
Institute for Creation Research ^ | July 2004 | John D. Morris

Posted on 07/23/2004 1:48:15 PM PDT by PatrickHenry

Most agree that the modern creation movement began in 1961 with the publication of The Genesis Flood, the classic work on flood geology. God has marvelously blessed in succeeding decades, and now there are scores of creationist organizations worldwide, with books and videos and seminars and websites multiplying rapidly. Not only has creation information become widely available, but the face of science has swung dramatically toward creation positions (i.e., recognition of the lack of transitional fossils, the acceptance of catastrophism in geology, etc.).

[Snip]

ICR remains distinct from other creation groups in its graduate-degree programs and staff of research scientists researching and gathering information made available to all the groups. Sometimes I wonder what could be accomplished if we had access to the huge government grants available to our evolutionary colleagues at universities, but we're winning without these grants.

The rather new Intelligent Design (ID) movement has also emerged, and has been quite effective in demonstrating the exquisite design in living things, quite beyond the ability of natural processes to produce, and the religious, naturalist underpinnings of evolution. Their membership spans a wide spectrum of viewpoints, from evolutionists, to New Agers, to Bible-believing Christians. As a tactical strategy, ID has chosen to be scrupulously secular in their presentation.

While ICR applauds the work of ID, sells their materials, and supports their efforts, we cannot join them. As a Christian, Bible-based organization, our goals are different. [Snip]

On 4 [ There must surely be at least one species, and probably several, having no genetic similarities with any other life on earth.], the timing of when creatures are created appears to me to have nothing whatsoever to do with their genetic code.

In evolution theory it does. Your genetic code is derived from your ancestors. But if you were specially created, and not a product of common descent, your genetic code could be utterly unrelated to that of any other creature.

On 5 [The fossil record must show all kinds of species (such as dinosaurs and humans) living together at the same time.], one could argue that if fossils from two species, such as humans and dinosaurs, were found together, that would argue against the Theory of Evolution, but I don't see how one could argue that in order for creation to be true one would have to find any possible combination of species. There are millions or species, so having any possible combination would require quadrillions of fossils.

I don't mean that you would need to find them all in one limestone quarry. Just that those we regard as modern (such as mammals) should be sometimes found in the same rock stratum as those we belive existed millions of years earlier, before mammals evolved.

we're winning

It's all relative. What is happening is this--WW II desroyed the French socialist movement to the point that it was America alone against Communism. American socialists allied with the Communists since the Eurosocialists were out, and when Communism failed in Russia the socialists were done altogether. What we see is the socialists' losing streak continuing and they themselves know and despair so they turn to Kierkegaard. The socialists' loss is not Creationists' gain since not a single despairing socialist nor Communist is turning to the Christian ethical system since that is not what they get out of Kierkegaard.

Yep, I'm angling for hamster of the week!

Do you think he sees monsters everywhere? Hope his neighbors have thick walls to mask the screaming of a demented soul.

Admirable ambition. But in that case you should impersonate him only after you drink a few cans of this:

Guaranteed to put you in the proper state of mind.

Where do Kent Hovind and Laura Callahan fit into this group?

Note the blatant linking of a Clinton appointee with a Creationist faker. (A Fakir wouldn't stoop so low.)

Before atheism and and becoming an agnostic was popular science was honest and objective. There was no "creation movement" or "Intelligent Design" movement. Darwin started the evolution movement". No matter what you call it is as true as ever that logic and facts put evolution of its head. Order does not come out of chaos. Even a simple plant and how it lives is more sophisticated than what evolutionists imagined. But hey ... you keep believing that suddenly everything happened and "evolved". :Put your faith in the religion of evolution.

Many of the folks were former "evolutionists" and all are more qualified and degreed out than you from secular institutions.

There isn't anything hysterically amsuing with this link. You only expose you ability not to think and believe nearly anything via "evolution". You need to stop being so gullible because the evidence doesn't bolster your theory of evolution.

Where do Kent Hovind and Laura Callahan fit into this group?

Both have made careers for themselves with diploma-mill degrees!

Of course, while Hovind has been convicted of tax evasion, Callahan is yet to be charged with anything, though I think an indictment for felony fraud isn't out of the question for the three degrees from the diploma mill known as Hamilton University on her resume..... assuming she doesn't take a dirt nap in Ft. Marcy Park first. Of course, if she dumped the 100,000 some "missing" e-mails of E-mailgate fame onto a zip disk while she was running "Project X" at the Clinton WH and has multiple copies stashed with instruction to distribute them widely upon her demise, she may have a better chance at survival than old man MacDougal had in prison.

Put your faith in the religion of evolution

It's comments like this that simply reconfirm that you are nothing more than a zealot with absolutely no interest in facts whatsoever. You have thus far never shown a hint that you have even the vaguest understanding of the theory of evolution, and yet you seem to feel fully qualified to debunk it, even though you never provide any evidence for your claims whatsoever.

No. :-)

They are forcing "findings" to a faith based fixed world view as apposed to modifying a model based on the discovery of new evidence.

I would like to re-characterize your assertion!

1. Top on the list for Bible based groups is to introduce people to the Creator of the universe. (by commission)

2. The evidence so clearly demonstrates a non-naturalistic origin to life and our universe, that to secularize the discussion would be foolish.

3. Scientists don't know the model, so they are an unreliable source for truth regarding shaping peoples ideas about reality.

4. We do not resent scientists making discoveries (as we so frequently are characterized), we resent the scientists who wrongfully formulate ideas that lead ignorant individuals to believe the facts are all on the table, when, in fact, for science the table the facts are placed on is questionable.

5. We honor the honest pursuit of discovery, but wish to emphasize that truth is a creation of Jesus, by definition.

The Holy Bible's claims about Jesus are consistent! Just so you don't believe these were my ideas. We believe the following to be the truth, and what science does, are the discoveries of the truth that Jesus created.

John 1:1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (emphasis added)

Jesus created the universe, therefore He is a better source of truth than His creation.

John 4:23-26
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

Meaning resides in our spirits. Therefore; God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus here asserts His authenticity for being the source of all spiritual truth.

John 3:10-21
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

A spiritually dead person seeks for meaning for their life in the material world. Therefore Bible based groups do not align with the ID movement.

I pray that the Creator of the universe speaks to your soul through His word.
