Let Us Unite Behind President Bush ( A Plea Message to all Freepers)

Dear Freepers
In this crucial election year, we are seeing that some conservatives are irresponsibly attacking President Bush in very aggressive way. By doing so, they are helping the Democrats and this is not acceptable at all. In this crucial time of our history, where we are fighting the war on terror, it is extremely important that we stay firmly united behind President Bush. We simply cannot afford as a nation to have a Democrat in the White House, it will be a disaster for America. Thus, I would like to ask you my friends who love President Bush and want to see him re-elected to stop attacking him and think about the big picture. Also, I would like to ask you to personally send e-mails to any conservative journalist, radio host, or TV host who is attacking President Bush or harshly criticizing him and ask them not to do so. I already e-mailed Mr. Joe Scarborough from MSNBC asking him to stop attacking President Bush as he has been doing lately. I send an e-mail to Mr. Bob Novak asking him to tell the truth about the ultra left liberal John Kerry rather than put down President Bush as he did in his latest articles. I sent an e-mail to NewsMax asking them to retrieve my name from their e-mail news alert list because I disagree with the way they are attacking President Bush lately. Any article posted on Free Republic and that is bashing President Bush for not being conservative enough should not get any traction or responses. If we do not respond to them, then they will eventually stop posting such irresponsible articles. We must work hard in toning down the rhetoric of some of our conservative friends. We love them very much, we respect them very much, but their anger is hurting us all in this crucial election year. Please let us do so, for the sake of this great nation.
Sincerely yours; JVERITAS

That assumes you deserve the answer.
Who appointed you Chief Inquisitor(s) anyway?
You're going to have to torture me to get the answers.
But, try reading between the lines......Or the lines themselves.

Here are some sites regarding the shortage of the Interceptor vests in Iraq, Pentagon cuts in combat pay for those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, wounded soldiers living in cinder block barracks at Fort Lewis and cuts in veteran benefits. You can't be serious when you say you haven't heard any of this.

their responsibility to vote for the BEST candidate
What if the best candidate is neither Bush nor the Rat?
The responsibility is to vote for the best candidate who has a snowball's chance of winning. If you support Free Republic and conservative values, that candidate will be George W. Bush!

Long ago I did something I considered far better than making a separate thread for the Reagan quote (which only a handful of people would see) .... I put it on my profile page.
That has it at my fingertips for handy reference.
And there is no way of knowing how many people may have checked out my profile for one reason or another and seen it.
I recommend that all who have the html skills to do so also put it on their profile pages. Then use it generously over the months/years as appropriate.
At the very least, copy it to a Word doc and use as needed.

Few who feel alienated by a politician are going to return to the fold out of guilt-tripping or bully tactics. It doesn't take too many "where else will you go? "do you want Dean or Kerry?" and "don't let the door hit you in the a**" sneers to incite spite or apathy. Many of the President's misguided defenders are working overtime for just such results. Saber, I don't think so.
Personally, I don't agree with the big spending, with the NEA decision, or with allowing illegal aliens who are here illegally to get work permits without going home first.
I complain loudly, long and often to the White House by normal means, to a contact I have within the White House, and to my elected representatives.
At the same time I recognize that voting for a Democrat or voting 3rd party is suicidal and I say so.

But many will. Some might. A few, more than a few. But not many.
The core republican constituents certainly does not comprise of the 5th column voters who are the MAJORITY of the people who are trying sway voters away from Bush.

You do have a nack of spinning things arounds Sorry Saber, all because some couldn't see beyond their nose and look at what kind of person Clinton was .. We ALL got screwed over BIG TIME I didn't like Bush41 going back on his promise of no new taxes .. But at least I had my eyes open to Clinton and I voted for Bush41 .. I looked at the whole picture
No, you didn't, and you haven't. I voted for Bush 41 too, but he took parts of his constituency for granted, and they left him. He is to blame for that. 99% of the voters will never think that they owe politicians their votes, no matter how much you or anyone else hopes or believes otherwise. If you ignore that, you ignore reality.

I agree. President Bush is alienating his base. Write him letters, don't just complain here. Your point is well taken. But also understand that proper criticism of Bush (and I'm not advocating name-calling of Bush or other FReepers, and I hope I haven't engaged in same previously) does register with people in the GOP, and it is equivalent to letting GW know that his base is not happy (at least, a lot of us aren't). Fine, let them "blow off" the disruptors, the people who didn't vote for Bush in 2000, etc. But for people like me, who did vote for Bush in 2000 and who *may* vote for him again this year, a little respect is in order.

I watched the hearings and the shortage of vests was acknowledged by Gen. Myers and he said they expected to have it rectified, with all soldiers having inserts for their vests, by February, 2004.
I think your use of the word "now" is making my point.

He has spent a lot of money, that cant be denied. Nor can I say that Im not appalled by the Immigration proposal. But W cut taxes, a move that appears to be part of the economic resurgence. He also got rid of that ICC foolishness, as well as the Kyoto accords. I just cant perceive of Kerry taking over the WOT, or that loose cannon Dean. The restoration of dignity to the White House was important after Clinton, and at least on the surface, he has more integrity than any of current crop of wannabes.(Clinton and his henchman didnt even bother to hide their oiliness)
No, the memory of a liberal democrat president is too fresh. I just couldnt have it on my conscience that I particpated in the election of Kerry or Hillary..

Great. I agree. Most people don't. Half of eligible voters could care less, and don't vote at all. 50% to 60% of likely voters are Democrats or swing voters. At the very most, only about 40% of the electorate are reliable Republicans. Every electoral calculation needs to start with the above facts. Of that 40%, a good chunk will be ornery and tell any candidate at all to pound sand, if they are alientated from that candidate. The mistake you and many on this thread are making is to think that other people think like you. They mostly don't. Therefore, the expectation that coalitions hold themselves together if candidates neglects them is not founded in reality. Therefore, when you see your coaltion eroding at all, you need to look to the candidate to act to hold it together.

Thanks for "getting it." You've demonstrated yourself to be a "big picture" conservative. Gird yourself for the attacks you'll receive from the nitpickers who have choked conservatism down to one or two "defining" issues. Clearly, those who don't want Pres. Bush re-elected would apparently rather see "Botox Johnny" Kerry making four or five Supreme Court nominations after 2004.

99% of the voters will never think that they owe politicians their votes, no matter how much you or anyone else hopes or believes otherwise. I never said that
What I said was some voters couldn't seem to look at the whole picture .. voters choose to go to a little man with big ears and charts and others voted for Clinton ... all because they wanted to send a message
We got that message with Clinton loud and clear
I also never said that we couldn't or shouldn't voice criticism of things President Bush has done .. there is nothing wrong with that
But to vote for a Dem or to sit out in hope that a Dem will get elected after all we know and all we have been through with them in charge ... is suicide

We have soldiers who post here. We have families of soldiers who post here. I had a stepson in Iraq last April when Baghdad fell.
None of what you are posting is true. That you believe what the mainstream press says one day, only to retract the next day, is your problem.
Last month there was an article on FR about how Russia supplied military items to Iraq - items that were banned by the UN. You posted several times that it was a good thing because otherwise it wasn't a level playing field.
You also said you had talked to some soldier that they were glad the Iraqis had more equipment than the UN would have allowed them because otherwise it would have been too much of a bloodbath and our soldiers didn't want that.
NOTHING you have had to say before or since has made me change my mind about you and your posts. You have an agenda and it doesn't belong here.
