Let Us Unite Behind President Bush ( A Plea Message to all Freepers)

Dear Freepers

In this crucial election year, we are seeing that some conservatives are irresponsibly attacking President Bush in very aggressive way. By doing so, they are helping the Democrats and this is not acceptable at all. In this crucial time of our history, where we are fighting the war on terror, it is extremely important that we stay firmly united behind President Bush. We simply cannot afford as a nation to have a Democrat in the White House, it will be a disaster for America. Thus, I would like to ask you my friends who love President Bush and want to see him re-elected to stop attacking him and think about the big picture. Also, I would like to ask you to personally send e-mails to any conservative journalist, radio host, or TV host who is attacking President Bush or harshly criticizing him and ask them not to do so. I already e-mailed Mr. Joe Scarborough from MSNBC asking him to stop attacking President Bush as he has been doing lately. I send an e-mail to Mr. Bob Novak asking him to tell the truth about the ultra left liberal John Kerry rather than put down President Bush as he did in his latest articles. I sent an e-mail to NewsMax asking them to retrieve my name from their e-mail news alert list because I disagree with the way they are attacking President Bush lately. Any article posted on Free Republic and that is bashing President Bush for not being “conservative enough” should not get any traction or responses. If we do not respond to them, then they will eventually stop posting such irresponsible articles. We must work hard in toning down the rhetoric of some of our conservative friends. We love them very much, we respect them very much, but their anger is hurting us all in this crucial election year. Please let us do so, for the sake of this great nation.

No thanks. I prefer to work towards restoring my rights and back a candidate that actually cares about the Constitution...

BTW, doesn't the squeaky wheel always gets greased first? Maybe when Bush realizes he's all but lost his conservative base, he will throw us some more bones. ;-)

The lesson of 1992 is not that Republicans should shut up and vote, it's that politicians shouldn't alienate their voters.

I have a lot of respect for the way you disagree.

I think the lesson of 92 is that conservatives work as hard as they can for the things they believe in, let their leaders know when they are disappointed, and then cast their vote for the person who will do the most to protect their country.

But they never, ever vote for the worst choice to "send a message."

And I've given every person on this web site plenty of advance notice (I've been saying it for the last three years) that FR will NOT be used to help replace Bush with a Democrat. Period. End of story.

No one here that I know of is trying to use FR "to help replace Bush with a Democrat." But I don't know HOW you influence your candidate (and I DID VOTE for Bush in 2000--check my posts back them---think I was lying at the time?) to change course on policies you're convinced are disastrous for the nation if you're not willing to withhold your vote as a last resort. Although I haven't definitively decided not to vote for Bush, I haven't decided to vote for him either---and up until a month ago, I was certain there was no one else in the world I could vote for EXCEPT Bush.

If Free Republic, in addition to the rules about no personal attacks, no racism, etc., now has a new rule that no one is to criticize Bush, then let that be clearly enunciated. There's no need to make insulting inferences about someone "using FR to elect a Democrat"---just ban whoever criticizes GW, especially in an election year. That way, you won't need threads like these, and you can just pretend that everyone really is united behind Bush.

The Bush bashers have an agenda. It's obvious. Very obvious.

The president is the president of all the people. Not just conservatives (although I'll grant you it's not smart to tick off those that brought you to the dance).

The alternatives are unthinkable.

Your analogy that if we end up with a Democrat president I have no right to complain is not valid, provided I vote, which of course I will and it will be for Bush.

People who DO NOT VOTE are the ones who have no right to complain.

I didn't like Bush41 going back on his promise of no new taxes .. But at least I had my eyes open to Clinton and I voted for Bush41 .. I looked at the whole picture

I still remember telling my sister in 93 that Clinton would turn out to be one of the worse things to happen to this country

I only know one thing. Rumsfeld would never allow those conditions for our military. I don't know where you've been getting your information, but men from Iraq have posted here on FR that none of what you've said is true. And .. as a matter of fact, I happened to see a congressional hearing the other day and a top military guy was saying that EVERY soldier in Iraq now has the new protective gear they need.

If you want the truth .. go to the Pentagon website and look it up instead of just spewing garbage.

But many will.

That's the real big picture that the "ignore the problems and speak no evil except of alienated conservatives" crowd is missing when looking at what they imagine is the big picture.

Coalitions aren't birthrights, and politicians have to work to hold them together, or they fall apart.

Few who feel alienated by a politician are going to return to the fold out of guilt-tripping or bully tactics. It doesn't take too many "where else will you go? "do you want Dean or Kerry?" and "don't let the door hit you in the a**" sneers to incite spite or apathy.

Many of the President's misguided defenders are working overtime for just such results.

his neglect in the matter of making heads roll in the CIA after 911 allowed them to make further blunders in the Iraqi WMD issue. That led us into a war that will cost American lives and American tax money for many years to come.

FACT: Clinton refused to take Bin Laden out....that led DIRECTLY to 9/11....this after the WTC and the Cole had already been attacked.

FACT: Clinton gutted the CIA and military....this led to Bush being handicapped with what was left to work with and the individuals who were left....many well-trained individuals quit during the Clinton years. Of those who remained, many are Rats, unwilling to work properly, so Bush would look bad. This has been discussed, numerous times, over the past several years on many talk shows and FOX.

FACT: The war is not Bush's "fault." We were attacked for the last time by Bin Laden, the person who was handed on a platter to Clinton, but whom Clinton refused to take. Bin Laden was allowed years to make his plans.

FACT: Saddam Hussein was given ultimatums, long before Bush ever became president. Again, Clinton did nothing about it, except bomb aspirin factories, all the while Hussein laughed at the likes of Scott Ritter and Hans Blix, and the other idiots at the UN, the Frenchies and Russians and Germans, who all helped provide not only equipment, but scientists/engineers to build illegal weapons systems. The UN turned a blind eye to these goings-ons....why? Because they were getting kick backs from Saddam through the payments he made to the UN....

But the war is Bush's fault, you say? Only an ostrich would believe that.
