Exurge, Calvinisti, et judica causam tuam...

Exurge, Calvinisti, et judica causam tuam...
Arise (some mss read Swarm), O Calvinists, and plead your cause. The doctrines of grace are mightily assailed by those who would proclaim with their father, I will be like the Most High. Set forth the biblical case for a sovereign God who is jealous for His glory. Disallow through disputation (and lampooning when needed) the damnable errors of those who have refashioned the great sola doctrines into a salvation-helper gospel that exalts the fallen will of man.
From every corner, in every thread exalt the right of God to do whatsoever He pleaseth. Be not dismayed by persistent anthropocentric rantings. Blessed are you when they revile you for the sake of the truth. Happy are ye when the Servetus card is played and the strawmen are paraded before you for He who is enthroned in heaven reigns.

His sixth point is that God's ultimate end in election and reprobation is his own glory; in other words, God could not have been better glorified by any other possible combination of events.Hear! Hear! Excellent point Sir Jude. I will eagerly and heartily join you in point number 6 and hereby submit the statement as my own. That makes me a clear two pointer. "P" (as in "P"-Marlowe) and the exclamation mark at the end.
_ _ _ _ P !
Thus as an official 2/6 Calvinist, I will once again submit my new application. I am now nearly half the Calvinist that Pope Piel is and at least 1/3 the Calvinist that you are. :-)

We had a 2/6 Cavalry at one of the installations where I served.
Any relation to your 2/6 Calvin?

Glory to God!
I am a definite EXCLAMATION POINT!
Yet, I am still 1.7 points shy of a full load.

Calvin, center of Creation? What a topsy turvy inversion! Instead of Christ being the center, giving the name Christians, Calvin is the center, and gives his name to Christ!

Hey Hermie,

LOL I find such thigs hysterically funny. Let me see if I got this right; St. Augustine, a Catholic, is really a Calvinist and Calvin really understood what St. Augustine was teaching. Interesting. Calvin couldn't accurately relate what the Catholic Church Tecahes Infallibly (Calvin was ignorant or a liar) yet we Catholics are supposed to seriously entertain the thought that Augustine was a crypto-Calvinist?
Unfortunately, far to many treat calvin as a God. - We just saw that didn't we? :)
In just a second, I'll post a link to a piece that illustrates how calvin was either ignorant or a liar when it comes to Catholic Dogma

Calvin himself was rather insistent on this point. At least, he would have been if he'd known what a Calvinist was.
John Wesley's favorite writer, William Law, wrote, "We are to consider that God only knows what shortcomings in holiness He will accept; therefore we can have not security of our salvation but by doing our utmost to deserve it." "We have," said he, "nothing to rely on but the sincerity of our endeavors and God's mercy."

good luck with all of this. The irony of Protestants appealing to Catholic Saints to establish their theological bona fides is very appealing and amusing but reading gamecock's posts will ruin my Advent.

Hello Hermann, I'm a little confused here. It seems are swarming brothers and sisters are using Latin (see headline) and setting up a heirarchy with a pope and everything, it all seems so....Catholic

I do not know how some people, who believe that a Christian can fall from grace, manage to be happy. It must be a very commendable thing in them to be able to get through a day without despair. If I did not believe in the doctrine of the final perseverance of the saints, I think I should be of all men most miserable, because I should lack any ground of comfort. ~ C.H. Spurgeon
