Hmm. I thought I liked Peter Sellers...might that be when he was playing Charlie Chan in that great movie with Truman Capote?
This thread is making waaaayyyy too many quick flash allusions for this old man to keep track of...

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that. Among other truths, FR is covering up the truth about UFOs, the truth about contrails, the truth about secret US concentration camps, the truth about the OKC bombing, the truth about the FED and the international bankers, the truth about the USS Liberty, the Illuminati, who killed Princess Di, who killed JFK, and who killed Cock Robin. The "gift" is to see the truth. Others see it as a curse. Still others see it as mental illness.

Well, they might get me for covering up the truth about MKULTRA and Flouride in our water and stuff like that, but they'll never get me for covering up the truth about men:
We hate watchin' Steel Magnolias, we like Rambo and Die Hard IV
Jump up and down like fools when we see the new tools
At the Home Depot Store
We don't really wanna take you to dinner at some fancy restaurant
The only reason we do is cause we know it leads to
The one thing that we all want
Well, that's the truth about men, that's the truth about guys
We'd rather pick guitars and work on cars
Than work on the problems in our lives
And though we might say it to you now and then
We ain't wrong, we ain't sorry, and it's probably gonna happen again
Well, if you wanna know what we're all thinkin', it's nothing too complex
It's just somethin' cold for drinkin' and a whole lotta S E
Yes.
That's the truth about men, that's the truth about us
We like to hunt and golf and drive around lost
And scratch and spit and a whole lotta other disgusting stuff
And no matter what line we give you when we come crawlin' in
We ain't wrong, we ain't sorry and it's probably gonna happen again
We ain't wrong, We ain't sorry, and it's probably gonna happen
Sure it's gonna happen, you know it's gonna happen again
And that's the truth about men

Being There was a classic Sellers movie and still holds up to this day - saw it on television not long ago. It was one of his last films.
Dr Strangelove and The Pink Panther and Fu Manchu films were extremely funny too.
Sad he died so young.

...will we ever get the ability to search not just for thread titles, but for *text* in the thread archives? Just install the Google toolbar - it has a "search site" feature that's great.

It is great, but it won't work on the FreeRepublic archives, except for threads that someone has explicitly linked to elsewhere on the web.
Google indexes web pages by "crawling" around the zillions of links on the web, indexing any page it discovers that way. Unfortunately, the FreeRepublic archived threads are not all "hooked" to other web page(s), they're "free floating", and can only be reached via specific title-word searches from the Search page. This means that they are not indexed anywhere in Google.
FreeRepublic *could* be totally indexed and searchable via Google (and other internet index sites) if John would make a "master index of threads" page by which any past thread on FR could be reached *solely* by following links (including "go to next page" links). The actual indexing, index storage, and search queries would all be done using Google's resources, it would place no greater load on the FR servers. But it seems that John and Jim prefer not to do that, perhaps because it would be useful to those who would like to harm FR, even though it would be very useful to FR's members and friends as well.

"H Akston was our lost soul, wandering in the jungles of the 'states rights' archipelago..
"-- tpaine
A few points - I'm back, first of all, so watch out :)
I have always been H.Akston. Never Dales.
tpaine is fully reconstructed, and just as proud of it as he can be. However, I LIKE the 10th Amendment. It was ratified constitutionally. It is pro-State-independence. The 14th Amendment was not ratified constitutionally. It is anti-State-independence. Always follow the truth, no matter how undogmatic and unconventional it seems. Dare to not goosestep. Don't be the one who's really "lost".
But I (H.Akston, that's H Period Akston) did get Luis good, on the Moussaoui issue. He believes that foreigners are "equally protected" (there's that p.o.s. 14th Amendment verbiage again) by the Bill of Rights as much as people who are "of the United States". Watch when they whisk him down to Cuba out of Brinkmama's jurisdiction (not Luis, but Moussaoui), as they are reserving the power to do as a fallback, and tell my how much the Bill of Rights protects him then. The only reason he's getting a US court trial is because the DoJ wants him to, not because the DoJ has to per the Constitution. He is an enemy of the United States, and not one of We, The People, who merit the blessings that the Founders' posterity merit.
