In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Our Chow, who lived to be nearly 18 wasn't allergic, but we had to keep him clipped nearly to the skin all summer, because he would get so hot, even in the air conditioning.

Our Australian Shepherd is allergic to a lot of the vegetation out here. She was practically bald when I finally found a really good shampoo for the irritation. Now her pretty, long hair is beginning to grow back. The Husky doesn't seem affected by any of it, though-I guess she does not have such sensitive skin.

I appreciate what you are saying haneygrl - but I'm sure the pup will outgrow it, she is still a baby, not even 4 months old. As to a place with space - I've got 2 acres!!!

I'm going to ask the vet next week about obedience training - because this one is a bit headstrong and with the combination of that and my daughter being headstrong - it's a bit beyond my ability. Down, sit and come I've already accomplished, but I think I need a bit more help!!!

What's another blow to my self-esteem? LOL!!!

it is the reason i stayed home from the ofc today, Vast. the NFL kickoff is a big deal here. a concert on the mall, etc.

The weather channel keeps mentioning it - and the possibility it may not occur, because of the weather.

The just changed our flood warnings. They were supposed to end at 8pm - have been extended until 8am.

I'm gonna have to bleach the bastard.

I've been having to bleach the walk and steps and the foundation on a regular basis.

We're supposed to get a bit of a dry spell so I'm hoping to be able to bleach the rest of the outside so we can get a coat of paint on it.

I at least solved the mold/slime problem inside.

Here it comes again - gotta go - i do not trust my phone lines.

Sulfodene medicated shampoo and conditioner is the good stuff. My Aussie girl was better right after she was bathed. Sorry I took so long-Just got back from picking up my car at the shop, and I am putting the finishing touches on the stuffed peppers for dinner.

And I'm jealous! We have just under one on the house site, and another 3/4 where the property extends across the road, but it is unusable for except as a natural-too steep. It is a nice hiking area, though.

Its been so wet my walk has cultivated a layer of slime.

I wondered who'd been stealing our weather. Please return it.

Seattle has set something of a new record for dry, sunny spells and we are suffering. The deciduous trees are dropping leaves early because they're so dry. Even the cedars are dropping fronds early. Two weeks ago I had to rake the front lawn and all the moss came up. It'll take years to get that soft, spongy green back. The walkways too -- they're now that really ugly grey concrete color instead of green.

I want some rain...

.

All day I face the barren waste without the taste of water,
Cool water.
Old Dan and I with throats burned dry and souls that cry for water,
Cool water.

The night are cool and I'm a fool each stars a pool of water,
Cool water.
But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn and carry on to water,
Cool water.

(chorus)
Keep a movin' Dan, don't you listen to him Dan, he's a devil not a man
and he spreads the burnin' sand with water.
Dan can't you see that big green tree where the waters runnin' free
and it's waiting there for me and you.
Water, cool water.

The shadows sway and seem to say tonight we pray for water,
Cool water.
And way up there He'll hear our prayer and show us where there's water,
Cool Water.

Dan's feet are sore he's yearning for just one thing more than water,
Cool water.
Like me, I guess, he'd like to rest where there's no quest for water,
Cool water.

Don't be jealous - mine is just a mosquito, flea and tick breeding ground.

After all this rain, I haven't dared go an look at the creek - I can only imagine the pile up of garbage I'm going to have to clear out from all the run off.

I realize rain is necessary

Gabz, count your blessings. We are so dry that if a forest fire gets started here we're, um, toast. (We're very deep in the woods, mainly cedars several times the height of our two-story house all around. So beautiful when it snows...)

Rain is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday; please pray we get it.

We have the trash problem in the runoff swale from the road above us, too, though there is no creek, just a drainage swale fron the rocky hill and the road at the top of it. But it is still s**t to clean up...
