my SIL did one for each of my kids when they were born and also for their first communions. my dining room walls are adorned with the First Communion ones, the kids will have to sue me to get custody of them when they leave home. i love them. my niece is going to graduate HS next spring, so i know this is my chance to pony up something in that regard. i will have to start from now!

I would have done them when my niece and nephews were born, but their mother doesn't have a sentimental bone in her body, and I didn't see going to the effort only to have them stored in a closet.

My daughter is currently working on one for us that is a house that looks like ours in shape, roof pitch and placement of the windows in the front. She is trying to figure out a way to make the walls look like stone (our house is stone), instead of painted wood like the picture that came with the pattern. When finished and framed, it will occupy a prominent place downstairs.
