Actually, she's very down to earth and I hate it more than anything that I didn't show up when I should have...she's a great den leader, but she does expect a lot from the boys...Matthew just loves it!
He aced the test with a 100%...sat down and 3 minutes later turned it in to her and said "Would you like me to say the Knife Safety Pledge now?" and she looked at his test and said "No thank you, this will do!"
He got his knife safety patch and earned his third red bead.
It's not easy work, this bear cub business...the boys really have to work at it and I hate it when I hinder Matthew's progress, as I almost did this time. But he was never worried and was cheerful about the whole thing...he said "Oh, don't worry...I'll get the red bead eventually!"
I love that kid more than life.

Awww, she should have let him say it. Good Job, Matthew, dad, and MOM.

But he was never worried and was cheerful about the whole thing...he said "Oh, don't worry...I'll get the red bead eventually!" You beat yourself up WAY too much, 2J. He loves you; you know that, and waiting until the next meeting for the red bead wouldn't have been a problem for him, because he knew he WAS going to get it. YOU wanted it for him because you knew he had earned it. I feel the same way for Joseph when I know he's worked hard.

It's not easy work, this bear cub business... I'm glad you're taking it seriesly 2J. I was a den leader for four years. We had a lot of parents who plain just didn't give a darn.
