The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You have to host the pictures on the internet somewhere - the pictures are not really copied to FR, rather they are a link just like any other link. If you right click any picture on FR or anywhere else on the web, you can see and then copy the address (URL) of the picture itself and paste that into html code that makes it show up as the picture.
There are free places like York Photo (www.yorkphoto.com) (they are free for a year, then you have to buy some prints from them) that offer hosting of photos you upload, or your ISP may offer some other host. Some photo sites are better than others. Linked pictures don't stay up from Webshots or Angelfire or some of the others, but York links have stayed up for over a year in my experience without turning into x's.
But first, to learn how to post just any picture, rather than go into it here, you should check out how to do a lot of HTML formatting at one of the practice threads that is here. This is a good one.
HTML Bootcamp (Cyber patriot training)
Once you know how to post pictures in general, then you can upload your own pictures to York and post them the same way.

Thanks P.E., busy printing the link out and will soon be dragging my poor husband off the sofa from his Sunday nap to help me "to get this". Appreciate your help.

Thanks Ms. Hair. Also copying your post, along with the information from the link that you and P.E have sent. My youngest daughter designs web pages, so, if by the time I get to California, I don't have this together, I'll get her to help out.
Thanks again for the help.

Where have all the hobbits gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the hobbits gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Interlopers have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Evening All:
RC: LSA agrees with you, Liam Neison as Rob Roy, okayyy.
Well, went to the picture show today, actually twice, first time we did not find acceptable seats so we went back for the next showing. It was worth it.
Open Range. wow, didn't know they still made Westerns like that. I forgive Kevin Costner for Waterworld after this one. Robert Duval was excellent as always, as "Boss", Kevin as "Charlie" and Annette Bening as "Sue".
What can I say : Great Scenery, excellent story line, great gunfight, hero gets the girl, the town regains its self-respect. Great movie. Will be seeing this one again.
Got the sinew backed osage pony bow tillered and worked. We'll see if it stays that way till next weekend when I'll do some arrow testing and final adjustments. This was a real test for this ol' wood hack. Hmmm. got another blank, some antelope sinew, and deer backstrap sinew, hmmm, maybe this time I'll......

Steve is watching some movie about a devil or vampire or something in snow storm. Yikes, not my cup of tea! It's over in a few minutes, I'll got to bed then...
I got the rest of the lawn mowed! The yard looks great.
My other neighbor (a cranky old "Greatest Generation" democrat) asked me if he could trim our poke salad plant down a bit...embarrassed me greatly. It was indeed huge, but not in his yard! It looks like a big weed, though and it was right by his front fence. So I mentioned it to Steve...asked him to cut it down. Well, I got in hot water for that, I tell ya! He was sure mad. But he knew I had a point...so he cut most of it down.
He loved that big old weed, though...it had huge blue/purple berry clusters on it and the blue birds love to eat it.
That is the only place in our yard that isn't privacy fenced, now...a 20' section. Someday we need to get that done, but not now.

Hey 2J!
My dad was a "greatest generation" Republican.
He volunteered at the age of 18, 1943, went into the IV division, US Army, landed ahead of even the first wave at Utah (Normandy) with a radio, fought in the Hedgerows, helped liberate Paris, from there fought in perhaps the bloodiest battle in the ETO, Hurtgen Forest, after that, the Bulge, then right on into Germany, including time occupying Dachau. By the time the IV got through Germany, their casualty rate was over 200%.
Dad remained anti-leftist and Conservative his whole life, which is now ended. FWIW.
So please don't take too seriously a leftist member of the "greatest generation" of which there were many. Cause there were also many on the side of truth.
My apologies, friend,
Barry

HI everyone...just popping in for a looksee...am VERY tired tonight. We have a definite exit strategy going now...house to go on market come what may after we replace ratty ugly carpet in bedrooms...then hope that the slow market doesnt mean we end up with two house payments!!!
I hope all the nice things we did to fix this house up with will make it sell quickly.

Yeah...I know. My uncle was the same way...a great guy, fought in WW2 too...he's gone too, but I have his uniform in my cedar chest.
This guy is just a typical "old school" dem who just gives me grief now and then. He seems pretty nice, but I always get the feeling I'm not dealing with the real deal...you know?
