The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I don't think Hair would take kindly to ~800 Spam posts. I could be wrong, however.

Did that at a place I once worked... the guys who did it took some pity, though, by leaving the majority of the peanuts in the plastic bags they came in. Just a (relatively) few loose peanuts around the edges to make it look realistic!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I would do that but we don't have cubicles, just desks.

Oh my stars, I'm having a rigor...
Matthew was supposed to do that knife safety and soap carving business this past weekend with his fellow scouts and with Steve and we forgot.
Anyway, I just spoke with his den leader and she was less than pleased, because she had planned on us being there. Now, she said she'd accept Matthew's carving, but he has to pass an exam before he can get his Whittling Chip Card...the other boys already did.
I need to breath into a sack or something...I'm having a rigor. I hope he can pass the exam...they had other stuff other than the book to study with...and I don't have that stuff. It's not catastrophic, we can just get the stuff and make it up...but all the REST of the troop will be getting another red bead tonight...and if Matthew doesn't pass, he won't get the bead. I can't bear to see that! I would just cry.

And we've covered everything in the handbook, what more could they want?? And he even has the cotton-pickin' Knife Safety Pledge memorized!
I'm not going. Steve'll have to take him...it was his responsibility to get him to the den meeting this past Sat and although I forgot about it too...it wasn't my reponsibility. But in his defense, he didn't get home till fairly late Friday, due to working on his final exam.

Show her yer proof!! print out the pics.
BTW, I remember doing that with my dad when I was a kiddo, only it wasn't for a badge. (He just wanted his knives sharpened, hehe.) Seriesly, though, my dad was ALWAYS sharpening his blades. Ya gotsta have sharp tools when yer gonna do a bit o carving in some fine maple. He showed me how to use the chisel, too, but I never really caught on that well. My curly-cues were never as cool as his were.

I already did...and she was ok with that too...I printed out the pictures and then Matthew described underneath what was happening in each picture.
But she implied (correctly) that it really wasn't fair to the other boys...
I feel dreadful.

Darlin' drink some Chamomile! He's five... I hardly think he wants to grow up knowing his Mom had a rigor over the possibility of him not doing well enough on a Boy Scout Test!
