The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You couldn't even kick me off this thread with all the dwarf tossing I get done while surfing here. Don't think we didn't hear that.

I'm a firm believer that killers should be executed in the manner they killed their victims, whenever possible. Same here. I wanted to see 'em duct tape Susan Smith to a Yugo and roll her sorry @$$ into the river.

I just threw away more than 12 years worth of accumulated ink pens. I did the same thing last night. And am still in the process. Part of our moving things around was to make the dining room a dining room again, instead of an office. So we're getting rid of the "executive desk" with the secretarial arm (it was HUGH) and we put in a computer armoire. So the table is now in there as well.
I have a four drawer filing cabinet full of crap. We're getting rid of it and I'm allowing myself one plastic storage bin and one file bin. If it don't fit in that, we can't keep it.
When we were unpacking my m-i-l, wife wanted to keep the wardrobe packing boxes (the type where you hang your clothes in the box). "They're good boxes, and we can use them for storage."
Baloney. I'm the only one who could haul 'em up into the attic.
She don't know it yet but they're out at the end of the driveway awaiting the recycling truck.

My mom has those boxes up in her attic! Wardrobe boxes! (They actually cost a fortune at U-Haul). She kept them. She's convinced when we move to our house out in the country, we'll need them. Instead of recycling them, you might bless someone by giving them to them (If you know someone that is moving). No kidding, I know they are pretty expensive to buy.
She also has the parts to what is likely an entire car up in her attic, left by the previous owners of the house! No kidding, old car seats, tires, everything.

She is sure to be fond of the dwarves. It is not difficult to be fond of dwarves. They are so helpful and gentlemanly - to ladies at any rate!

I feel like a rotten listener. Spiderboy told us yesterday on the way home from church that someone scratched his hand and he needed a band aid. I looked at and didn't see anything. I asked him if it was bleeding. He told me no, so I told him he didn't need a bandaid.
UGH! Someone in his Sunday school class had stabbed his hand with a pencil. I got the story out of him this morning when I noticed the palm of his hand looked infected in a spot the size of an earring stud.
Long story short, I cleaned it up with some o that smelly alcohol, and soapy water, and put a bandaid on it.

I just got through making 2 batches of those molasses cookies for the platoon. I hope they like them. Well, first, I hope they last through shipping well.
I was never the cookie mom. I'm tired. I don't enjoy doing stuff like that! I was the Mom that anxiously awaited them to come home from school so we could build fires in the back yard and cook stuff on rocks and sticks! LOL

No worries about the listening! I think something like that happens to all of us at some time.
Myranda got stabbed just above the lip with a pencil in 1st grade. It looked nasty the next day. Took her to the doctor and he treated it. Told us she'd have a tattoo there prolly her whole life from the graphite. It was gone in a couple of years though. It was SCARY to me though.

Oh gosh! I hope the tip of the pencil didn't break off in there...could cause a bit of trouble. Can you tell?

Heh, I still have a piece of graphite in my back from a kid (named Ronald Keith McDonald - kid you not) stabbing me in the second grade. There is more to the story, but I must plead the fifth cuz I was not an innocent bystander.

I'm full of angst.
I just hauled Joshua's beautiful diaper bag (I mean a really nice canvas bag that the women at work gave me) down from the top shelf of the computer room closet. It's dusty, but in excellent shape.
I don't want to give it away. I keep saying "Someday the grandkids will need it." But someday they probably won't want it because something better and more stylish will be available.
I don't want to give it away. But someone at the Mend Crisis Pregnancy center could maybe really use it...
I should give it away.

It's gonna be ok, the tip of the pencil didn't break off.
I asked him this morning when it happened, and when he told me yesterday, I felt like doo-doo for not taking him seriesly. We didn't even TRY to disinfect his hand yesterday.

Well, that's good about no tip...I know how you feel about feeling bad...been there, sis! LOL So I know it won't help for me to say "We're only human". The way you are feeling just shows what a good mom you really are.

Yes, I had to look it up in my big German-English dictionary to find it!
She is sure to be fond of the dwarves.
LOL! I had not thought of that, but its a good point!

Would you believe that the only bandaids we have in the entire house (at least that I could find) are Harry Potter? LOL! I wonder where we got those??
My mom adores Harry Potter. Spiderboy has Harry Potter tennis shoes too.
