The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Apparently Danny Pearl (the journalist) was also a fiddle player and this was his favorite tune...Yes, I remember hearing that.
It's one of my favorite tunes, too! I don't get to play it as often as I'd like, 'cause no one else seems to like it...so I was happy this weekend when my brother who's learning guitar wanted to get the chord changes down and had me play it over and over.

I just happen to have this picture of Schlohweiss and her Grama taken about a year ago!
Do you know her identity now? :-)

Oh goodness I know now!! Helloo!! Come on, come in! Welcome, welcome! Tea? Or maybe something a little stronger? I've got a few bottles of the Old Winyard left. Oops. I posted a little late! But from what I hear she has come to love the Old Winyard since she's been near the wineries! :-)

Beautiful gals both of them! I wish I had known your grandma.

Grama was somethin' else. If I ever learn to love half as many people half as much as she did - I will have made an accomplishment indeed! :-) She could be cantankerous though. As she would say, "full of p!$$ and vinegar."

DC...we didn't scare you off, did we? ;-)No no! Not at all. You couldn't even kick me off this thread with all the dwarf tossing I get done while surfing here. I just cant spend alot of time on except when Im slacking at work. Today stock market is up 100+ pts so Im kinda busy.
Im just busy between work, getting ready to ship off with my National Guard unit, school at night, and house work.
Hey, I saw the ROTK trailer in the theatre for the first time last night. It was GREAT on the big screen. I saw Master and Commander, and recommend that movie for you swashbuckler/military history types.
Gotta go:

When you say ship off with your National Guard unit, whadaya mean? Where ya goin? I ship off 05 JAN 03 for 10 weeks of MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) and other classes with my unit (39th INF BDE (SEP)-ARNG) before they ship off to Iraq.
I don't go to Iraq until later in the year. They ship out in MAR I think.

Am I a bad person for being so happy about this?I'd apply a little creativity to the sentence. Tell Johnny Mo that his sentence will be executed at some random time while he's out in the exercise yard with the general population. It might be next week, it might be ten years from now. The sniper would get a phone call, which, upon authentication, will authorize him to kill the prisoner as soon as a clear shot is presented.
I'm a firm believer that killers should be executed in the manner they killed their victims, whenever possible. Let Johnny Mo walk around for a while, knowing there's a bullseye on his forehead, but never knowing the exact time.

And isn't there a hint somewhere of Gandalf reminding someone (Pippin?) of Denethor, or the other way around?
I wonder if the suggestion is that the disapproval/disappointment that Denethor had as Faramir's father had the effect of Faramir looking to Gandalf for that fatherly approval? And, when he learned it was with Gandalf's approval that the hobbits should go to Mordor with the ring, he made the choice to let them? Hmmm?

Am I a bad person for being so happy about this? No, you are a good dwarf.

I just threw away more than 12 years worth of accumulated ink pens. I don't know if they work or not, but we don't need umpteen million ink pens. I just scanned 'em quickly to make sure there were no "Cross" pens in there and then tossed 'em.
I'll have to put them out into the garbage before Steve comes home...he'll have a rigor if he sees them!
