The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

37 Heat wave.
It was 28 in the Castle gardens this morning. I'm afraid the tomatoes are a goner.

BTW everyone. The reason Schohweiss isn't answering is that she just picked up Abby from school about an hour ago and is caring for both kids right now. Their time is 7 hours later than us. Jill comes home from the hospital with the new baby today - SW made sure the whole house was good for her homecoming and is probably cooking up a HUGH supper because the hospital did not feed Jill enough. If she gets online with us today - it will be a miracle.
That post she made was when she climbed out of bed to get Abby ready for school this morning.

Run home to get something to eat, then if you HAVE to come back, you can bring the mando with you! ;o)I'm ALMOST tempted to do that. I would have to come back. Thing is, I don't have time to run there and back in my lunch hour (though I've done it), and I don't like playing music when other people are in the office...usually what happens is everyone else goes somewhere else to eat lunch (like the dining hall, which is...closed), and I play while they're out.
I think I can stand to wait until evening. But I miss it! ;-)

I meant the plants. Last year I was able to harvest the fruit the day of the first freeze without problems.
Msdrby and Spiderboy are at home today too.

Yes on the blossoms. The pumpkins and banana peppers are (were?) still producing and blooming as well.

Good morning everyone! I have a busy day, so I'm just going to say good morning, then log off for a while.
Welcome Schlohweiss!
I have only one more "hot spot" left to conquer. That's a place that collects stuff, you know...and piles up and up! For me it's papers. I had 5 hot spots and I got them all policed except for one, here in the computer room.
I wish you could see my china cabinet. I took all the china out of it (gee, I don't even have chairs that match my dining room table...heck, they don't even match each other) so I'm never gonna use my mom's fancy bone china. I put it in a big box up in the attic.
Then I put everything that I had sitting out, trinkets, pictures and such...things that required dusting (which I hate doing) and I put them on "display" in the china cabinet! Now I should rarely have to dust them and the top of my entertainment center has only one picture (of the jedis of course) and a mantle clock. Much easier to dust with the feather duster.
I've gone (I think) 4 days with NO dirty clothes in the house...as soon as I get up in the morning, before breakfast, I wash the dirty clothes we wore the day before. After breakfast, I hang them on the line! By evening they are dry and after my kitchen is cleaned in the evening, I fold them and put them away!
I could go on and on, but really for the first time in years feel like I have a handle on things around here! Steve even has started pitching in and helping, now that he knows the "routine" (it's posted on the fridge). He doesn't have to, but it makes things doubly fast when he does.

I just hate that.... losing all that!
I got my basil in pots on the back porch (enclosed) though. So, I'll still be having fresh basil! :-)

Left the ... perennial?..."persistent" herbs and strawberries out. They stayed out "back home" so they'll just have to get used to it. :)

Ack! I'm bummed! mp3.com is going down. :( 'twas my favorite music site. Even some former students of mine have music on there.

I'm listening to Gaelic Storm here. It's not good to be humming drinking songs this early in the morning.
