Yeah, I know what you mean. I invariably decide to really like the "doomed" character. Although, as I primarily read SF and fantasy, the dead guy comes back 7 times out of 10.

To tell you the truth, I don't always look, though I often am curious, and do sometimes look, and always want to.

The Nazis with the hot poker from the fire.... Does not pass the D test. ...but it goes by quickly. Might not be enough time to actually get up and leave before the scene moves on...
