The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I have never digested meat very well...when I was a very little girl, I would steal the meat off the table and run off with it and my mom would have to chase me down and take it away (per doctor's orders.)

Now I just suffer the consequences!

Yeah, I've seen both movies. I just LOVED them.. but I haven't read the books though. When the third one comes out, my friends and I are having a LOTR marathon, lol.

This has been happening to me since I had my gall bladder removed two years ago... has gotten to the point where I just avoid red meat as best I can. Chicken and fish don't bother me though, so I don't have to become a vegetarian thankfully.

I did it! I taught him the math! I went back, explained to Matthew that this was something he was going to need to know and that he needed to learn how to do the formula.

We went over it and over it and he got it on the first try. I still kept going over it and will probably go over it again here in a sec. Then I've got some problems for him to do and the proof will be in the pudding.

I'll keep you posted. Thank you for your help!

We have the bed all loaded and will be on the road before 11:00! Will be up there by 1:00 unless your bed becomes one of those cursed mattresses in the freeway.

You have to buy a mattress from the freeway? - Or did you just stop and pick it up?

I went to a cheap furniture store...you know the kind...great big warehouse like thing. They sold me a cheap mattress for my guest bed.

Two years later, as I was making the bed, I notice there there seems to be an extra seam "underneath" the cover of the mattress. I remember feeling of that seeam and just feeling the blood drain out of my face...I knew something wasn't right.

I went and got a knife and began carefully trimming away the cover. Underneath, and I'm not even being dramatic, was the most disgusting mattress I have ever seen. It had a HOLE in the mattress cover and the batting was just coming out. And the batting was dark brown...like bloody. Like someone had either had a baby right in the middle of it or bled out in that bed. It was absolutely horrific.

I videotaped the entire removal of the "new" cover.

How's the cough, Corin?

Havin' some coffee right now. Cough is much better today, thanks. I can usually take one or two Drixoral and get rid of a cold. I'm not quite out of the woods, but I feel much better today. Drinking lots of fluids.

I'm not kidding. Got the videotape to prove it.

Oprah had a program about these kinds of things and I remembered it when I felt that extra seam. It was just like they'd stuck a brand new cover on top of a mattress that had been in a ditch or something. It was absolutely filthy.

I remember Matthew coming in the room while I was cutting off the cover and I wouldn't let him near it.

Someone had taken an old mattress cover cut from another mattress and laid it over the hole, then they just covered the whole thing with new material.

I wanted to barf.

Coffee is good...the heat is soothing. I like to drink regular tea too, because I just like the idea of tannins...I think they are healing.

But have no proof to back it up.
