The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Pardon me while I pace and feel ill for awhile. Either way, I'll be both happy and upset. Okay, now it's time to make a decision. The deal is done. Decide to be happy! And get excited about the new van! Tee Hee!

I'll be happy as soon as the transition is done, I'm thinking. Change isn't something I cope with well. And, as I've mentioned before, letting go is something I have a hard time with. Even for inanimate things like cars.
But I AM looking forward to being able to bring everyone - in comfort, even - when we go to visit some friends south of here this weekend. That's usually not an option.
To: Wneighbor
Also need to get some bumper stickers and such!

Hobbit Hole Dwellers, we're coming upon Veteran's Day ... let's post pictures of our veterans. Can I put in one of Tom?

Also need to get some bumper stickers and such! Need me to send you a "Don't Mess With Texas" sticker? I sent one to Tom to stick on some vehicle in Baghdad. :-)

I think that's a great idea! Which means I'd have to go on a photo hunt to find that one of his official army thingy. Most of 'em gots Jill in 'em too. - go figure.

Oh, I like it! That's not the problem. The problem is that I'm also attached to my little Toyota. I wouldn't have put up with its shortcomings for so long if I wasn't.

Need me to send you a "Don't Mess With Texas" sticker? I sent one to Tom to stick on some vehicle in Baghdad. Hm...I like that idea, except that I have no ties to Texas. Actually might be a cool thing to stick on my intrument case, too. I'm always looking for more bumper stickers for my mando case.
Maybe we can do a sticker swap at Entmoot? Though why anyone would want a Vermont sticker...I don't know.
Right now the popular thing is to buy a North East Kingdom (what this part o' Vermont is called) Euro - one of those oval stickers. They say NEK. Then people right "Red" in red marker above that. I saw the first one a few months ago, but now a lot of people are getting them.
To: RosieCotton
I'll bet you'll be more pleased than you expect within a week.
Yay, I finally have an eye appointment! I can get new glasses!

Yeah, but those oval stickers started out on the OBX.
I'm getting a chuckle over this quote in our local paper, "Gov. Mark R. Warner didn't have coattails. He didn't even have cuffs."
hehehe...

Yeah, but those oval stickers started out on the OBX. OBX?
First I saw of them was in Europe...used to be you had to have one for your country, in addition to the license plate. Since the EU, I guess it's no longer required.

I'll bet you'll be more pleased than you expect within a week. Probably! I just don't like adventures, and paperwork is much more of an adventure than I like! But it's a darn cute little van. I'm looking forward to driving it.
Yay, I finally have an eye appointment! I can get new glasses!
Congrats! I'm supposed to go in for a contact lens fitting in about a week. I'm thinking I may cancel...just not in the budget right now, and I'm still not sure what I think of puttin' fingers in my eyes.

Maybe you'll even get lucky and get them right away! I did...they had the lenses in stock, and I used the same frames.
I finally splurged a couple of years ago and got those Accuflex frames. It's been really worth it - it's very, very light and doesn't wear out the way my old ones used to. The screws would work loose all the time. Doesn't happen with these, for some reason. They still look new.
To: RosieCotton
Well, I think I want to get anti-glare lenses, so it may take a while. At least I need new frames, too, so I'm not going to be blind for a week while waiting.
