I've seen Verner's in some of the grocery stores in the DFW area. Good stuff maynard.

So, happen to know which store to point me toward on the west side of Ft. Worth? I know you're up in Allen so don't know if you could guess that far west.

The Journeys of Flat Frodo
Richmond and the Outer Banks

Following a long journey from Texas, Flat Frodo arrived in Richmond, much feeling the need to read more of one Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.

Henry "Box" Brown Perhaps the most oft-repeated account during the period before the Civil War was the one about Henry Brown. Brown had his friend Samuel A. Smith, a white shoe dealer from Richmond, Virginia, send him off in a wooden shipping crate. Three feet deep, two feet wide and three feet long, the box became Brown's home for 26 hours while it was shipped from Richmond to Philadelphia's Anti-Slavery offices. The rumor that spread through the ranks of abolitionists suggested that, upon the opening of the crate, Brown popped out, wet from the travel, and jubilantly declared "How do you do, gentlemen?" As word of Brown's creative choice of transportation spread, it quickly inspired other runaways to follow the same idea. Shortly thereafter, an eighteen-year old girl and a pregnant woman arrived as freight from Baltimore at William Still's house.

From within the walls he hears, "THEY BE NO ELFISH SPOKEN HERE MASTER BAGGINS!"



Frodo accompanies the Gracious, Humble and Better Looking Dwarf Corin Stormhands to the mines.

Frodo thinks to himself "I doubt the dwarf mines much mithril in this location..." (Frodo is right).

From Capitol Square, Frodo journeyed to high atop Richmond's Church Hill where he stood outside the gates of the famed St. John's Church. There Mr. Frodo felt a kinship with Patrick Henry. Frodo thought of Mr. Henry's historic words upon this site and remembered his own words spoken at the Council of Elrond..."I will take the ring to Mordor, though I do not know the way."

Frodo enjoyed his sojourn into Richmond. But lo, a darkness fell over the Hobbit Hole. Talk of implosion filled the thread and there were rumours of pirates and interlopers. Much strife was felt between the races of men, hobbits and dwarves (being of course that the elves always cause strife that was seen as nothing new).

Word reached the far western shores that Flat Frodo was in peril.

Hi Winmag. Whaddaya think o' my scoot?

It looks like a nice bike, but my experience with motorcycles is limited. In fact, the only motorcycle I ever touched was a 1948 Matchless. My dad brought it home, in pieces, when I was in highschool. It belonged to another guy at work, whose kid took it apart, but couldn't get it back together again. It was literally baskets and boxes of pieces.

We spent several evenings putting it back together, and learned, the hard way, about Whitworth threads. We got it back together, and running. My dad rode it to the corner and back, and then had the guy pick it up.

I am, however, hooked on "American Chopper". First, because I yell at Big Paulie, "get a CAD designer, and put all the models into some CAD system. Then hire someone who knows how to build from prints." The engine, tranny, frame, and wheel suppliers all use CIM, so they have models of the major components already. But I guess it's better TV to have someone cutting, welding, and banging parts together. There's no drama in seeing the problems solved on a computer before you start bending metal.

But what fascinates me the most about the show is the personality of Big Paulie. He's identical to my father in everything except appearance. Someone who's so talented and experienced that he has no clue how to manage people with lesser skills and motivation. So he spends most of the show making himself an asspain for everyone else, figuring that's how you get work done by others.

It's also why I never want to manage people. I can't push them as hard as I push myself.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! I will be hard pressed to rescue Frodo from this slanderous work of dwarves!!!! LOL

In a few short days Frodo will be quite relieved to speak his glorious elvish once again..........

that is wonderful master dwarf.... it will stretch my elven dialogue skills for sure to do as well. But, I will at least make an effort.

You know my real profession is CAD designer huh? I watch that show and want to yell at him that HE NEEDS TO HIRE ME!!!! I mean, I could be a great asset to that show!!!

Now, far as those management concepts. I have been managment briefly and hated it. Had them promote someone with less seniority so I could get out of it. Then for years I was over training. At work training meant everyone came on as temps. If a temp didn't cut the mustard you called the service and just told 'em not to send that slacker back.

So, now, in school, teaching.........ugh... the thing I can't deal with is that I keep wanting to fire their butts for not working. And my daughter's reaction? They both keep saying I have to give it up because not everyone on earth even wants to be a chronic overacheiving perfectionist like me.

I don't get it. I thought that's why they came to school.

What would become of Flat Frodo? Would he fulfill his mission? Would he make it to Entmoot 04?

After much negotiation, and a few pints, Flat Frodo was able to book passage with the dwarves to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But, not being possessed of much gold, Frodo was forced to labor for the funds necessary for the journey. He found temporary employment at The Great Wal-Mart of China.

At long last, the funds for the journey were raised, and Frodo prepared to travel with the dwarves. Here, Frodo and Sam discuss the journey ahead.

Frodo marveled at the contraption the dwarves called mini van. "Bill is a wonderful pony, but he could never haul provisions like this."

Frodo and his companions pause in their journey to dine at "The Inn of Mel's Diner."

Following a good days journey, Frodo and his companions arrived at their Outer Banks destination.
