The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hi! I'm at work...they're doing placement testing for the last orientation session this weekend, and we have to be here to set up (log them in and start the tests, though we don't proctor) and in case something goes wrong. Nothing is going wrong. I'm really bored. Finished one book, don't feel like starting another, and I'm eating Reese's pieces and drinking a ginger ale. Not very healthy. Too bad, so sad.
To: HairOfTheDog
It was only one post! I was very polite about it, I think!

I recommend Seabiscuit...I was thinking of checking that out! But this library doesn't have a copy, and the other ones in the VT College system are all checked out and with a list. So I'd have to buy it...and I'm cheap. Would like to read it sometime, though.
I have two books I haven't read yet...I'm just all read out for now, that's all!

You know what I did today? (other than apply for jobs, my normal Sunday activity).
I went out and picked a bucket full of the juiciest, ripest, sweetest blackberries I've ever seen. The blackberries are spectacular this year. So dinner (five minutes away) will be immediately followed by scrumptious blackberry cobbler (we make it with nothing but blackberries topped by a homemade dough crust -- no sugar at all, other than what's in the blackberries naturally, which is plenty).

Well, isn't that a slice of Americana!
I should go browse my woods, I would probably find blackberries! - though I have cut down most of the big Himalayans.

Yeah - I got read-out for awhile too, after reading LoTR twice in six months, I think.
I have looked around, started and then lost interest in a flame war, and now, I think, have nothing to do but nap!

To: HairOfTheDog
Was it a good flame war? I'm lookin' for entertainment!
I have Out of the Silent Planet - first book in CS Lewis' space trilogy, which I LOVE...but I'm just not motivated right now.

Himalayan Blackberries! Vile plant from hell.

Very invasive exotic... and, as far as invasives go, there isn't a better food and habitat plant. They have the best berries! But they take over until that is all there is, ten feet thick and comes down on you out of the trees! They have to go, they don't belong! I spent a whole summer it seems like cutting them out of the wetland at the beach house, so they stopped being food and began being the source of all evil in my eye.
As for the flame war..... I lost interest in it.... but it was about Gregory Hines... The man was a great talent, and some freepers tick me off.
