The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I get vote for President next time... last time I was a few months short. Too bad! I wanted to vote. Wow Jen. Msdrby and I went to a party of few months ago where elections came up. I realized I was the oldest person there when I was the only one old enough to have voted for Reagan ('84).
I'm glad you see the need to vote. So many college folks don't.

Our piano is a TECHNICS console, SX-PX222. We've had it about 6 yrs. or so. I'm sure they have something similar. I think it was less than $2,000 back then. Don't know what they're going for today.

Not bad, but you need to work on your accuracy a little bit...

We've never camped in CT. It's a lot closer to you than NH, that's for sure! We always liked going to see the fall leaves in the mountains, so we'd go up to the N. Woodstock/Lincoln area. For summer camping, we'd go to Squam Lake. It is just so lovely!
We did our last tent camping when Clare of about 9 mths. old, at a lovely state park in Vermont; Jamaica State Park. We never went back cause we got the tent trailer the next year and went to sites that had utilities. We could have used the tent trailer at Jamaica, but we would have needed a good battery for the lights, etc., but we never got one. I decided I wanted the trailer because it got to be too much like work hauling everything out of the back of the van to cook and set up for meals. It was also a pain if it was raining!!
We got trailer that had a 3 burner stove (so I could always have room for a pot of coffee), and a furnace! There were several times in the fall that it came in handy! Once when we were packing up from a trip up to the mountains on a Columbus Day weekend, it had begun SNOWING! It was a mite chilly that time!

What gets me is all the false security the ignorant public has. Nearly every person on a plane has a set of keys. They would make awesome weapons.A bunch of keys on a ring makes a viscious flail. Just aim for the eyes.
I think TSA is a federal make-work program for the criminally stupid. As with any failed bureaucracy, they compensate for their stupidity by making idiotic rules and arbitrary decisions that are intended to infuriate the taxpayer. That way, they know they're not forgotten, and hope that the public assumes they're actually doing something worthwhile, rather than being paid $60K per year per person to consume oxygen.
I have an interesting file from the FBI that shows improvised weapons, and everyday items that can be misused. It also shows how they appear (or don't appear, if they're plastic) on xrays.

My parent's trailer is like a mobile HOUSE! It's really nice...microwave, sound system, ect. My mom hates staying in hotels...so they got this big trailer and they just stay in KOA's and such. One wouldn't exactly call it camping...
Steve and I have a tent...a pretty good sized one. But we've never used it. Maybe this next weekend?
What do you sleep on, in your tent?

It wouldn't happen to have yellow thorns tipped in black, would it?
It's a wait-a-minute vine if it does.

Boy... you must live a charmed life, that you can spend all the time you do worried about some people having a little harmless fun.
To: 300winmag
Do you know about camping gear? I want to know if an air mattress is the way to go in a tent? I don't think I could sleep on a narrow cot.
We have a tent, but nothing else! LOL

As a matter of fact...I am not even sure I know how to properly set up a tent or anything...
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't just slap it up...right?
I have no idea...
