The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

*gulp* I am currently the highest bidder on this:

Insurance came thru with an amount that will cover this and the delivery/set-up...if'n we're not out bid. It's a digital with midi capability and has the weighted keys for use like an accoustic piano. It's not quite five feet in depth. Pretty much the dream of what we wanted.

Some responses after a not too good "catching up";

LF, many congrats on the arrival of the new additon!

WN, thanks for prayers...it's prob. not as bad as I am making it sound. (you know how I can carry on)Rentry into the home front, after three weeks absence, is hard on me. Also Terry and Aimee' are struggling with direction...do need prayer there.

Lf, Corin, and all who may be in the path of the storm...many prayers for you all.

SusiQ, great joke...thanks

Ramius, chaos, that's it, junk mail is chaos!

Ruthy, more prayers for the healing, hope she is better.

ksen, I haven't forgotton, just a rough day and not in a place to talk...thanks for the "Tolkien ping"...always a good read.

ProfEng and his lady, so sorry about the wedding pictures, maybe they will be restored. Prayer for that and for you two a wonderful marriage.

still reading and catching up....

In other news...I just bid for a grand piano...did I have an extra $95.00 to spend at the vets? mmmmmm....no....I don't think so. And we didn't even get his shots.

Sam has an infection of some type. He's worn off most of the fur on his underside. It's either a bacterial infection or...gulp...ringworm. But he's had this for a couple of weeks (we thought it was another flea bite episode and were taking him to get a shot today). So I think we probably aren't in danger of ringworm.

Possible he got something at the kennel when we were on vacation or possible that he's allergic to some of the mold or bacteria that was exposed with the plumbing problems.

So he's on an antibiotic and a steroid. And we have to bathe him with special antibiotic shampoo twice a week.

Tell yuh whut, the fun never ends in the Stormhands household.

I will admit that it is a mess.... and I do get what you are saying... I would not have advised her to yank the guy around like that.... Bad stuff happens when you push people to the brink.

Dang, dude... so when trouble ain't comin your way with appropriate velocity... you go out and find summore? :-)

Cool piano. But... that's the sort of thing I'd buy (assuming of course that I played piano, which I don't) when I was absolutely positively sure that I was never EVER going to move again. I'd leave that one to the beneficiaries to figure out how to move. :-)

Good luck on that piano! - Gorgeous!

And welcome to the world of unexplainably itchy-scratchy dogs! - This just happens sometimes and you may never learn why.... the prednizone is the most important part of the treatment.... He'll look and feel better in a day or two of that.

I'm thinkin' since it's a digital it wouldn't be as difficult as moving a real grand piano.

But I told the wife when we moved here, I plan to die in this house.

I think the vet was more concerned with the cause of the infection/fungus. Yeah, dog will feel better, but we ain't out of the woods yet.

I've been out in the garden almost all day! No kidding, getting the beds ready, planting more winter items. I planted rutabagas...and turnips.

Is this the third time I've planted rutabagas and told you about it? It seems like it...

What a lovely piano!! Watch out for the last minute snipers. I was outbid in the last 40 seconds by $2.50 on a great microscope I was trying to get for the kids' Biology lab work. I lobbed a few choice words in the direction of THAT person, I can tell you.

I hope y'all get it!

If she didn't think he was imminently dangerous, how exactly was his employer supposed to know?

On that part, we completely agree... This is not the city's fault. The lawsuit is an abomination of the law.

Well, I'll just have to wait until after 9/26 to go see Secondhand Lions.

Looks nice! If you get it, I might have to drop by some day and take it for a test drive. Do you do any MIDI-type stuff currently?
