The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh my heavens they turned out FANTASTIC! I made a ton of them with three cups of flour and a cup and half of milk, basically! I should go into business, they sold them at the Green Corn Festival for $2 a piece!
The cooked ones are fresh from the fat...too hot to eat.

They do look good! I need to try making those one of these days, maybe sometime when my sister is over.
You know, 2J...some of my very best memories of my mom were of times like you're living today - when Mom let us "help" her cook things we wanted to make, even though it would have been much faster (and considerably less messy!) for her to do it herself. Years and years from now, Matthew is going to remember that for his 8th birthday, he got to make fry bread, and it turned out wonderful!
You done good.

Thanks Rosie! Your mom must have really enjoyed her kids! That's why I do it...I just love having them in there with me! Besides, they play with play-dough all the time, I figured they'd be pros at kneading the bread...and I was right!

Actually, this is the first time we've made them! I know that the Indians here make a sort of taco out of them, but I always buy mine plain and put butter and honey on them. Today we just put butter on them, and I thought Joshua would like peanut butter on his.
I bet they'd be good with the powdered sugar on them...and the cinnamon sounds good too! Might do that for breakfast...we have a bunch!

mmmm fatYou and g'nad are two peas in a pod! I was hoping you'd see the pictures. I figure if I ping g'nad to something rather domestic, he'll figure out it's meant for you!
