The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh! First Aid stuff, how timely! I just took a Red Cross First Aid/CPR class last week!
It rained off and on and our place today. The kids were able to get out and paint the back of the house for a bit, and I was able to get the entire yard mowed! Now it will be two weeks before we can mow it again. It's gonna look like a prairie when we get back!

I thought of you today!
Saw that shower you were talking about at an RV dealership. The black plastic like kind? There was also a large sleeve-like "shower stall" that you could hang up and have privacy! It had inflatable supports around the top and bottom and you could hang it up, slip inside with the shower bag thing and take a private shower!

I doubt anyone else here has ever managed that... Well, I can't say I've done that exact thing. But, I do happen to know that blood dripped onto the motherboard of an open (yet powered on) server can cause a short. But the good news is that the heat will dry it fairly quick, and seeing how dried blood doesn't conduct electricity nearly so well... usually by the time you reset the breaker the server will come right back up.

Been there, done that.
My worst hand injury involved putting a hand through a window. THAT hurt. I still have scars.
And yes, I felt stoopid after that, too. Though it was more innocent than it sounds. Just went to open a double-paned window and it stuck...rather than push JUST against the frame, I was pushing also against the glass and up. My hand went through. And boy...do glass cuts bleed or what?
To: Ramius
Ewww!
What'd you do, cut your knuckles on a pin or something? I usually managed to get all scraped up when working on PC innards. I'm accident prone, I guess.

ooohhh... Guuiiinnneeessssss....
Hmm... there's Guinness on tap here. Hmmm...

so, did you have to say that you wised for world peace? Or whirled peas? No, matter of fact, I didn't get asked a question that related to world peace. But, I got off on a really weird tangent with the announcer. I was dating a local radio announcer who later became my last husband. The emcee for the pageant worked at the same station as the guy I was dating. So, we were slightly aquainted, anyway, I was comfortable with him. So, I came walking up for my question and he complimented me on my dress. I said, "Thank you, I made it." He said, "What?" kinda stunned like. I said, "Yes, I made it myself." He was incredulous. And since we knew one another it became kind of a familiar dialogue intead of the pageant Q & A portion. And some of the dialogue was funny and people laughed...... especially my little brother (that's another story) ....so, by the time he got to my question it was pretty anticlimactic. It was something about women working in male dominated professions. My answer was something along the lines of just getting out there and working as hard as I can to do the job. Never mentioned world peace once.
Okay, briefly, my little brother is still insistant that as a contestant in a beauty pageant it was just wrong to walk out and tell the guy I made the dress myself. He say, "KIM! You just don't do that! It ruins the whole image of those girls!" ROTFL!!!

Guinness!! I finally got to try that the other day...Its gonna take a while for me to get used to it. Its...
hoppy. I tend to gravitate towards Mexican beers. Tecate and Modelo are my favs...good with a bit of lime in it. And I like the beer salt...
The BEST tequila I have ever had was Anejo 1800...it was GOOOOD. I figured out what makes me sick is actually doing the tourista thing and mixing salt with it. You want to talk instant liver poisoning!!!

Yikes. I need to be careful, or I could even start drinking again.

Since you didn't ask mrsnad, it probably had a lot to do with the pizza party i threw at my house. Have you seen the Sandra Bullock movie?

Ewww! What'd you do, cut your knuckles on a pin or something? I think it was the exacto knife that I was using as a really small screwdriver. I know, I know... "right tool for the right job"... yadda yadda yadda... whatever. I'm much more in the camp with "improvise, adapt, overcome...". :-)
