The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hair, as us regulars all know, is in reality the River Daughter of the Old Forest.
Well, I guess SOMEBODY has to be. No wonder old Bombadil's out of his tree, so to speak. :^)

I'm not very good at tactful, I'm afraid. Either I keep mum or I just blurt stuff out.

And sometimes I even kill threads.

If I were a balrog...
Wait, isn't that a song?
If I were a balrog
I'd whip it in the mor-or-ning
I'd flame it in the evening
All a-under this la-and...
Well, that proves I've got the worst singing voice in Christendom. At least I've got nothing in common with Peter Yarrow. Where was I?
Oh, yeah, if I were a balrog, I wouldn't be one of those gentle, just-leave-me-to-my-whips-and-flames balrogs you see lazing about all over the joint like they're waiting for someone to hand them a welfare check or something. I'd be out there whipping up dragons and raising Hell!
Actually, I may not really belong here. The only literary character I ever really identified with was Archie Goodwin. From Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe mysteries.

ARCHIE!
I've been looking for you for years! How about a corned beef sandwich and some milk, and we'll talk about some of the cases you've worked on?
I love Archie. No one else like him in all of literature.
As for that song, you haven't LIVED until you've heard Leonard Nimoy sing the real version. Hoo-boy.
OK, now I gotta head home!

If this thing with friend's brother doesn't work out, perhaps Argh would take you out and buy you one of those drinks!

I'm not very good at tactful, I'm afraid. Either I keep mum or I just blurt stuff out. What I've read was very tactful. :-) You're okay. You got it right a while ago. Just skeered.

Call 1-800-FLAT-FRODO"
Hope everyone is having a very "Happy Hobbit Hole" day.
2J, the pictures of the services with the army "dudes" were wonderful...many blessings to you and to them. So glad they are coming home.. bless their hearts.
Kinda busy around here, Terry is home looks like for this week...we never know, he quiet literality is "on call" at times. As a result, schedules have been a bit off. Also my cousin's B-Day and all that goes with it. Will prob. be in and out of the HH today.
Again Congrats on the new "digs".
