Same-Sex Marriage

President Clinton Can oppose same-sex marriage, and remain a friend of civil rights.

President Bush opposes same-sex marriage and is given the theme "hate, anti-civil rights".

Why, the double standards?

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE In 1996, President Clinton signed the Defense of marriage Act, which denied federal recognition of same-sex marriages and allowed states to ignore same-sex unions eleswhere. No doubt, one of the greatest acts by this Democrat.

No one called Clinton racist, or a gay/lesbian hater. Yet, President Bush, and other conservatives express similar positions and we are given the "people that hate civil rights" attachment. As an African American, I for one find myself tired of gays/lesbians attempts to associate the civil rights struggles of people of color and women, to the abnormal rights of same-sex marriage and preaching of gays/lesbians in the pulpit.

I shall have discourse on this matter the next time I fill-in on AM 1500 KSTP talk radio. Get on our call list at mnbrc@hotmail.com or call 612 661.0923

Lucky Rosenbloom, President Urban Republican Coalition www.mngop.com/brc

REMEMBER. Our position to prohibit same-sex marriage recognition, does not mean you are against civil rights, and equal access for people of color and women.

On another thread here the other day, someone quoted Mark Twain as saying that if someone gets the reputation for being an early riser, they can get away with sleeping until noon. ;-)

Everything Pres. Bush says & does is a big issue, more so every month as we head toward 11/04. At least the "16 words" have been dropped...now it's simply "he lied to us" and we "went to war on false pretenses". And the Saudi thing of course!

All of the prsidential candidates except for Dean & whatever-his-name-is from Ohio are also down on same-sex marriage, like Clinton & Pres. Bush & the Pope. So...how is it an issue at all? About 80% of the country opposes it. A wedge issue? It's hard to understand WHY!

I thought President Bush's response was well-reasoned and well thought out. Can't understand the fuss about it. But then, I'm not for giving gays and lesbians the option of legal marriage. That doesn't make me against civil rights.

Nothing President Bush ever does will please the left.

I don't really understand the point of this post, unless it is simply an advertisement for a radio show.

No double standard.
Everybody KNOWS that Clinton is a liar, so they understand that whatever position he takes is a wink-and-nod, only for the cameras, and stated only to try to fool the mindless voting rabble.

Clinton would do whatever the sodomy lobby told him to do and they all know it.
Bush, on the other hand, scares the liberals and the sodomites and the lefty newsrooms because he is a man of conviction who means exactly what he says.

LH

I would rather hear Bush address the 8 million illegal alians that for the most part we are supporting with tax dollars and loss of jobs for American laborers.

Hmmmmmm the silence by the media is deafening.

*snicker*

Sorry.

As an African American, I for one find myself tired of gays/lesbians attempts to associate the civil rights struggles of people of color and women, to the abnormal rights of same-sex marriage and preaching of gays/lesbians in the pulpit.

If same sex marriages are allowed then can straight people get married as well as gay?

For example, If I am not gay but have a friend that doesn't have a job can I marry her so she can be on my insurance?

Can John marry Steve so John can buy Steve’s property and not have to pay taxes?

And if only gays can have a same sex marriage isn’t that discrimination?

(You might want to ask the moderator to correct your spelling in the title)

If you get lucky, a typo will become immortalized like "series" or "vey" or "hugh".

Hey, relax! I have made similar mistakes and so have most FR posters.
All you can do is say, "Doh.....!", and laugh along with everybody else.

The question of your post is a good (if obvious) one and I addressed it properly (I think) in post #11.
