Its insane and the public school system is no better with all the fees for everything like field trips and other nonsense, all the fundraising activities all year, school pictures which are now 32 bucks for the package. So sad they even do a 2nd picture in the spring with no notification and send the pictures home without you even knowing they were taking them. Its a heartbreaker to have to send the nice pictures back because you just dont have the money right now. I figure I spend at least 1000 bucks a year on all the frivolous school items and supplies for my two kids. Some free education!

I feel your pain. My son just graduated from high school. I think the whole thing cost me at least a thousand dollars.
Pictures, cap and gown, invitations, more pictures from graduation, yearbook. I told my son he needed to return his gown after graduation and he said, "no, we get to keep them"! What? No wonder I paid $50.00 for that gown. I now own it.

What really stinks is that they tried to get the kids to pay for their sashes from various organizations like honor society, honors grad., Key club, etc.. Parents raised a stink so the kids a freebie on sashes/cords. I am still surprised they didn't ask for a deposit for the diploma!

There is no "FREE" education. Ask a property owner.
