Dixie Chicks get last laugh

That breeze you feel is courtesy of a sigh of relief echoed from the handlers of the Dixie Chicks as the "there's-no-such-thing-as-bad-publicity" rule plays out once again.

Rest assured that a girl group singer's off-the-cuff remarks and ensuing success will fuel plenty of jingoistic rants to keep group-thinkers' proverbial prayers and guns aimed at anyone who dares utter dissent.

However, such corporate -- and public -- McCarthyism does further expose the limits now placed on certain American freedoms, in this case, freedom of speech.

Yes, America lacks the freedom for a female vocal group to demand that millions of people buy their CDs. Liberals have long lamented the lack in America of the most sacred freedom in the liberal pantheon: The Freedom to Push Other People Around. Maybe some other day.

Well ... you can stick a fork in them, they're done! It may not show today - but let's wait and see what situation they're in a year from now. Nothing emboldens an idiot like getting away with it. They believe they've gotten away with it - you can expect more - very soon.

I went to check Billboard.com and the Chicks are #2. They have also made the biggest monetary gain this week for sales. That tour is really working. Bad pubicity really is better than no publicity. It's a pity.

I also checked out the Pop charts... Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' is at #4 after 1356 weeks (26 YEARS!!!) on the charts. That is amazing!

What you all have to remember is this. It says in the Bible that "I will bless those that bless thee, and I curse those that curse thee." Now sure this spoken in the Old Testament to the partriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel)) but it also applies today in a spiritual sense.

Being a christian I've noticed that everyone who has ever intentionally done me harm has suffered because of it. In some way, shape or fashion, they have repaided for whatever they did. I've been told it's cuz they have spoken out against someone who takes a stand for God Almighty and his son Jesus Christ.

Now that's not being said to put the christian up on a pedestal and tell everyone "you better not mess with me or else!" It's a biblical principle that plays out in the true believers life.

Where am I headed with this you may ask?? The Dixie Chicks, as well as others in the nation, have taken it upon themselves to mess with God's "anointed one," in this case George W. Bush.

President Bush is a believer, and this is where GWB gets his strength, having that relationship with Jesus Christ. He knows that he's right and doesn't care whether these people do their best to bring him down. He knows in the end that they will be brought down (whether it be here in the life to come) and he "sticks to his guns" no matter what these lunatics are saying about him.

Wow. How myopic of this author. Does s/he really think the Vichy Chicks aren't paying a price--a heavy price--for their anti-patriotic remarks?

No matter to me, it just shows how little these media pencil pushers really think.

The DC were essentially sold out before their assinine behaviour. The record sales have stayed high relatively speaking, but from what I've read and seen, their sales as a whole have fallen off. Their airplay has plummeted, though I still do occasionally hear their stuff on my local country station. The very mention of their name was enough to elicit loud "boos" at the CMT Flameworthy Music Awards. And the very essence of their core audience is country music: people who work hard, love their country, and live in the Red States.

Their other "base"--teenage girls with no country music ties, are a flighty demographic. Sure, it's hip to like the Vichy Chix now, but these kids change "idols" every other week.

Don't look for the Chicks to stay on "Top of the World" for long...in reality, though, they were never there.

Don't fret, they lost millions from lack of airplay and royalties. And it ain't over yet...they sold out the shows prior to yapping. And they will not give refunds.

This isn't over yet by any means. The chicks have lost a very large following, that
has cost them millions. I don't think they will ever get back. I've said before that I
think they make some pretty good music, but insulting your followers does not
convert into money in the bank. People eventually will get bored with the same old
sound, with different names. I wish them well...but lets wait a year and see what
evolves...Wine or vinegar.

Why is she exposing her armpit like that? Is she trying to convince the world that she's not French?

What do you suppose would happen if this author encountered a boycott sponsored by liberals? Would he talk about "McCarthyism?" Would he ridicule the boycotters as "group-thinkers" and describe their effort as "stifling dissent?"

Enquiring minds want to know! Is this guy just peddling his own politics here, or is he serious? Let's find out!

    Campaign seeks to embarrass owners
    By Breuse Hickman

Good news if you drive a Honda CR-V or a Toyota Rav4 Sports Utility Vehicle model.

    You probably won't get tagged.

But watch your back if you drive one of the gas-guzzling behemoths that block the view of Miata drivers and threaten to knock that tailgated Corolla into the next city.

"Feel the adrenaline rush of stalking the really big game -- like the Denali, Yukon or Tahoe. Get the thrill of witnessing the tagging of an Excursion, Expedition or Escalade with a not-so-subtle message that will leave them scratching their heads."

So reads the mission statement on Charles Dines and Robert Lind's Web site, www.changing theclimate.com. Two years ago, the San Francisco duo launched a bumper sticker campaign designed to embarrass drivers of large SUVs.

"I'M CHANGING THE CLIMATE!" the sticker proclaims. "ASK ME HOW!

Dines estimates to date nearly 4,000 SUVs have been tagged with the slogan, based on the minions of bumper sticker boxes that are empty.

"It started out of frustration we had about the egregious consumption of fuel," Dines said. "And we realized that public humiliation was once a great way to keep people in check."

An SUV's size can be deceiving, so Dines said tagging choices should be made according to the number of cylinders a vehicle has: six and eight cylinders are fair game.

"If you have an eight-cylinder and you don't use it other than to drive to the supermarket, we are going to tag you," Dines said.

Though Dines and Lind have received major television and print coverage, until recently it seemed as if the duo owned the war against SUVs.

Not so anymore. In the past few months, anti-SUV sentiment has grown to a smog-induced fever pitch.

    Included:

--- Based on positive reader feedback that so-called conservative online and newspaper columnist Arianna Huffington received after blasting SUVs, the former SUV owner has started to work on an ad campaign that equates SUV driving with terrorism because the profits from the gas support Middle Eastern governments that sponsor terrorism.

In an October column on Salon (www.salon.com) with the headline "I helped blow up a Bali nightclub -- by driving my SUV to work every day!" Huffington gave an address where readers could send donations to start an ad campaign.

"Arianna had done a good job linking this kind of over-consumption with the state that America is in internationally," Dines said. "She's firing with both barrels now. Strange, because she's a conservative."

--- An environment-based Christian organization has launched its own bumper sticker campaign. This one asks, "What Would Jesus Drive?"

... well, you get the idea.

Well that answers my question she did pose nude and it was not air brushed. Yep the chicks will now be bigger than ever.

The truth in Rock and country any PR good or bad does not matter and this is proved time and again.

Now if we had 100's protesting/freeping these fools....oh never mind.....
