My 2 cents:
The Dixie Chicks did the best Star Spangled Banner I have ever heard. I am VERY sorry their comments ruined it for me.
Prediction: (may not happen, of course) After the war winds down, W invites the DCs to the WH for a command performance. After all, he is a uniter, not a divider. And maybe he can change their minds some.

I don't hear her whining that people should buy their albums. I hear that she's frightened because they and their families' are getting threatening calls and letters and their property is being vandalized. I don't blame her, I'd go on TV to stop that also.

I think it's rational and totally acceptable for people to write a letter... and say "You know, I was really offended by what you said about the President."
Translation: you stupid fans should write me a letter that I'll never read instead of boycotting me.

You know, like, you can be offended and all, but DON'T STOP GIVING US YOUR MONEY JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK WE ARE ANTI-AMERICAN!

Who cares? I still like their music and will continue to buy it.

She stepped in it again. In this "apology", she manages to label country music fans as "backwards and conservative and closed minded."

as passionate as they are about their cause, I love that about them, but accept that I am passionate about mine as well
So she is passionate about trashing our President on foreign soil on the eve of war.
I am just as passionate about never buying another CD of hers. I will turn off any television or radio show that has her. She has freedom of speech. I have the freedom to ignore her.

Here is how Natalie Maines can fix it or at least help get out of the hole she keeps digging...
Maines: "Im sorry. I was wrong in what I said. I am not in a position to use my platform to make suggestions on international policy. I will always be supportive of the 1st ammendment but I must also recognize that I may be held responsible for my words the 1st ammendment grants me the right to say. I want to publically apoligize to all the fans who are supporters of President Bush. I hope the fans accept this apology because although I may not agree with our President, I must be sensitive to the fact that our fans do support him."
Or, she could say:
"I suck... Im wrong and I will now never vote democrat again. I will join Pro-life organizations and support 2nd ammendment rights across this land and fight for these causes!"

MAINES: We were going into this hotel
and he [the Dixie Chicks' manager] got a call
he's pacing back and forth. "Oh, no!"
You know, we're automatically going "What? What happened?" And then he says,
you know, he gets off the phone and
I was like, "What? What happened?" "Well, the AP picked up what was said the other night... But don't worry, it's going to blow over in three days." And I looked at him and
I go, "No, it's not."
He goes "Yes, it is, yes. Don't worry about it."
You know, giving the old manager spiel. And I said, "Oh, I don't think so."
Poor Natalie. Please go to her concerts. She needs the money to pay her speech tutor.

She's scared to death that the first concert in May, in South Carolina for God's sake, some Freeper is gonna stand up during her song and yell: "Go to Hell you Fuc!ing anti-American traitor!"
I guaranty she is scared to death of it. She's been performing to fawning crowds of adoring fans since she was 7 years old, and no one has ever booed her in person. Its her worst nightmare.

Who realy cares what she says now.
She spoke from her heart the first time.
She is entitled to speak her opinion.
I am entitled to spend my money how I please [at least until the democrats return to power]Meaning that if I don't want to spend my money buying her cd's and concert tickets, I can at least for now. [see parenthis]

I didn't even know who the Dixie Chicks were before Natalie Maines' remarks in London. What struck me most about her remarks was not that the fact that they were anti-American and made on foreign soil during time of war, but they seemed so calculated and image-directed. As I have posted before, prior to 9-11, celebrities probably got a "boost" from this kind of bullsh*t; after 9-11 it is commercial suicide. The Chicks' manager didn't know this until it was too late.
Anyway, even though I wasn't a Chicks consumer prior to the offensive remarks, it turns out that my wife and daughter were. I have educated them as to the nature of their remarks. Now my 10 year old daughter has deleted her Chicks MP3s from her iPod (yes, she bought the CDs, not downloads)and has explained to her group of girlfriends all about the Chicks and why she is no longer a fan. This has been a wonderful opportunity for me to enlighten my daughter about what it means to be an American and consumer responsibility.
This is not just happening in my household. This is a very heartwarming phenomenon that is happening across flyover country. Just watch the week-over-week CD sales for the Chicks for the next 6-9 months. It is bad now and will only get worse.

Like other working Americans, the Dixie Chicks should learn to think before they speak.

Accept this Maines: Americans are fed up with anti-American leftist pukes, and the cultural and economic destruction you and your type have wrought upon this country. Some of us are more passionate than others, but more are catching on every day.
When you communist pissants are as flat broke as the lumberjacks, miners, farmers, manufacturers, and everyone else put out of business by socialist intervention, then you may get a break from the criticism. Otherwise, may you and your ilk rot in Hell.
