New York If one off-hand remark got The Dixie Chicks international response, imagine the buzz that will come after Friday's one-hour exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer. Natalie Maines, Emily Erwin and Martie Seidel will be the sole guests on a special edition of "Primetime," on ABC Friday night.
Meanwhile, despite the supposed outcry, people are snapping up Dixie Chick concert tickets. Their agent, Rob Light, tells Billboard that despite some backlash at radio and retail after that "we're embarrassed he's from Texas" comment about President Bush, the Dixie Chicks are flying high. Light says that of 59 shows, only six have seats left, and those are all 85-90% sold-out.
The Chicks' tour kicks off May 1 in Greenville, South Carolina, and concludes August 4 in Nashville.

Their agent, Rob Light...people are snapping up Dixie Chick concert tickets
Some would pay the price just to protest, perhaps? Time will tell. Maybe the Sawyer interview is the stage they are using to 'apologize' or try to redeem themselves before the kickoff of their tour.

Gee I hope the air time doesn't conflict with Monica Lewinski's new TV show. </sarcasm>

The sad thing is people will forget what they said.
There careers will go on

Tickets for the concert series went on sale before Maynes openned her trap and put her foot in her mouth.
So to say that people are snapping up tickets is a blatent lie - most of the tickets were already sold

As has been mentioned before, most of those tickets were bought before they made their remarks about Bush.

So, Diane Sawyer is going to give "the whole hour" to the Dixie Chicks and no time to anyone with the opposite point of view? I guess "freedom of speech" is just for the rich and famous. For the rest of us, we have the "freedom to sit down and shut up." I deal with this subject in advance in my latest column, "Who's Next?" (First link, below.)

I certainly bought my tickets to the Salt Lake concert before Maynes opened her mouth. I have asked both Ticketmaster and the tour sponsor about a refund, to no avail. I could probably sell the tickets on e-bay, but that wouldn't send a message to these stupid broads. I haven't yet decided what to do. The concert is in July.

Why don't you go to the concert and disrupt it... and tell whoever tries to stop you that you're just practicing your right to free speech.
