I can't wait to try that one out on my sixteen-year-old son. I predict a look of shock, dismay, followed by laughter.

I would not go so far as to call Kid Rock "semi-country". But I would say Kid Rock has an appreciation of classic country artists (i.e. Hank & David Allen Coe), as he refers to these artists in "American Bad Ass." And there is an occasional country sounding rif in his songs. Assuming your 16 y/o son does not listen to country music, these references & rifs may go over his head.

I remember my disbelief when my father told me that the tune of a Beastie Boys song was stolen from a Led Zeppelin song. Although I had a new appreciation for LZ.

Yes, I can see that. I just got Xm, and am enjoying "Hank's Place", and I'm far from a

When I saw Kid Rock a few years ago, I was one of the few in the place that knew that when KR played "We're an American Band", it was a cover.

Kid Rock also sings "Country Boys can Survive" and some other Hank Jr. songs.

Hank Jr.'s F-word song is funny - singing to his "son" Kid Rock "We don't use the F-word in Country Music".

You shouldn't be. The Beastie Bitchboys are just another in a long line of (c)rap acts that has to steal what others have done before them, otherwise they'd never have any ideas. Hip-hop/(c)rap is another fine example of what H.L. Mencken meant when he said no one ever went broke underestimating the tastes of the American public.

Lets see, that would be she's crafty, using The Ocean. Although, now that I look, they have use LZ samples in several of their "songs". To be honest, it actually pains me to dislike them now, as their music was a major part of my adolescence 8(
