So horrible. I pray our POWs will be rescued soon.

God bless those brave souls and may God give comfort and strength to their families.

Dubai, April. 5. Dubai-based Al Arabiya television said today it had signed up veteran US reporter Peter Arnett to help cover the US-led war in Iraq days after he was fired by US network NBC.

The news channel said Arnett, who won a Pulitzer prize for his Vietnam War coverage, joined its three-man team in the Iraqi capital Baghdad two days ago and that he had already appeared on live broadcasts.

"Peter Arnett is a professional correspondent and is known for his coverage of the 1991 Gulf War. His presence is a good thing," Al Arabiya news editor Salah Nejm told mediapersons.

Blubba's on his Caribbean tour:

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton praised efforts against AIDS in the Bahamas on Friday, saying the Caribbean country's successes can be a model for other nations struggling with the epidemic. Speaking to hundreds of high school students during a one-day visit, Clinton said programs in the Bahamas have proven particularly effective by reducing the mother-to-child transmission rate from 30 percent to 3 percent....

Clinton's next stop is Puerto Rico, where he is to speak at a dinner Saturday held by the nonprofit Caribbean Council for Global Studies. Next he is to visit St. Kitts, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

His presence is a good thing,

I agree. Perhaps we will be spared the expense of a Treason Trial if he stays over there.

I'm sure the Arabs will love every word of Arnett's reporting.

CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar - Frightened and seriously wounded, a 19-year-old supply clerk who was held by Iraq for more than a week at first hid under a sheet when a team of U.S. military commandos stormed into her hospital room.

"Jessica Lynch," called out an American soldier, approaching her bed. "We are United States soldiers and we're here to protect you and take you home."

Peering from behind the sheet as he removed his helmet, she looked up and said, "I'm an American soldier, too."

He had to sully our state before moving on to the Caribbean tour.

This empty flesh bag is an embarrassment.

Clinton's next stop is Puerto Rico,

Gotta work on that tan!

I'm taking bets. How long until bill starts judging Hawaiian Tropic Bikini contests?

An interesting letter to the editor appeared in a small local newspaper I subscribe to. It was crafted by a young woman deployed to the Gulf, written to her parents and published in the paper for the little community to read.

The newspaper is published weekly and is not on line, so I am going to key it in:

Editor's Note: Phil and Cindy Slaubaugh received the following letter from their daughter, currently stationed in the Persian Gulf area.

Dear Mom,

How are things going at home? Everything here is good as it gets. We moved from the main base camp to one further north. Still the same miles from Iraq, just further to the east of Kuwait.

This camp isn't near as cool as the one before. There isn't a store or hardback tents. We have the GP (General Purpose) tents with the poles through the middle. We do have the wood decking I was telling you about, but no cots so we sleep on the floor. I know that sounds bad, but it really isn't.

I now only live with four other females and we seem to get along pretty well.

I guess I should explain the whole mission so you will know basically what we do. Please understand that this is not as scary as it may sound, and just keep praying for me.

(2 paragraphs ommited here by me as I consider the info a bit to informational to print for distribution world wide)

The FOB will stay together until the whole thing is over then I will get to come home.

The time frame we are looking at is only 5-6 days of moving north then staying at the FOB for who knows how long.

Well, now that you know a little more about my place in the big picture. I hope you will feel a little better. My job as a corpman is pretty boring. I just have to make sure the Marines are healthy and drinking water and not peeing next to the tents, things like that.

Anyway, my whole reason for writing this letter was to let you know that if you don't hear from me for a while don't worry!!!

Please keep writing and I will write when I can. I love you all very much and keep me in your prayers. Tell everyone to keep writing.

Love Always, Lindsey.

Well, that certainly sounds like a full time job to me. And keeping the Marines from peeing next to their tents would be quite a challenge.

It's gratifying to see peanut head and bent casting about the globe continually trying to find relevance to anything.

Treasonous dipwads.

Hey IG! I seem to keep missing you. Thanks for the letter from Lindsey, I hope her parents aren't too worried.

I've heard some snippets over the past few day (mostly relating to dem caucuses in IW) that much of the population in IW is anti-war. What do you think?

Hubby and I heard reference to this nonsense last night on FNC. We both looked at each other in amazement.

This is certainly not the case in the circles I travel in,,, nor in the circles the Old Geezer travels in (totally different circles, I might ad).

As a matter of fairness, there are plenty of Harkin supporters here who drink the koolaid, and they are probably the ones referred to in the comments we've all heard reported.

Boy, from the story I got was that (a tad exaggerated on my part) all of Iowa was against the war. Wish I could remember where I read it, we could give them the Super Special Spin Award.

General Myers responding to the explosion of criticism from the hyperventilating media and the scores of retired military experts who think they could have come up with a better plan. (4/3/2003)

General Richard Myers - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

My view of those reports -- and since I don't know who you're quoting, who the individuals are -- is that they're bogus. I don't know how they get started, and I don't know how they've been perpetuated.....They either weren't there, or they don't know, or they're working another agenda , and I don't know what that agenda might be. It is not helpful to have those kind of comments come out when we've got troops in combat, because first of all, they're false, they're absolutely wrong, they bear no resemblance to the truth....this subject is not useful. It's not good for our troops and it's not accurate. You've got to be careful with the sources you use and try to figure out what they're really trying to say. I will stick by my statement that this is a great plan and it's one I've signed up to, it's one all the joint chiefs signed up to, and it's one we're going to see through to completion.

You tell 'em General!

HLL, this was the answer from Gen. Meyers I told you about the other day. :-)
