Hubby and I heard reference to this nonsense last night on FNC. We both looked at each other in amazement.
This is certainly not the case in the circles I travel in,,, nor in the circles the Old Geezer travels in (totally different circles, I might ad).
As a matter of fairness, there are plenty of Harkin supporters here who drink the koolaid, and they are probably the ones referred to in the comments we've all heard reported.
General Myers responding to the explosion of criticism from the hyperventilating media and the scores of retired military experts who think they could have come up with a better plan. (4/3/2003)
General Richard Myers - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
My view of those reports -- and since I don't know who you're quoting, who the individuals are -- is that they're bogus. I don't know how they get started, and I don't know how they've been perpetuated.....They either weren't there, or they don't know, or they're working another agenda , and I don't know what that agenda might be. It is not helpful to have those kind of comments come out when we've got troops in combat, because first of all, they're false, they're absolutely wrong, they bear no resemblance to the truth....this subject is not useful. It's not good for our troops and it's not accurate. You've got to be careful with the sources you use and try to figure out what they're really trying to say. I will stick by my statement that this is a great plan and it's one I've signed up to, it's one all the joint chiefs signed up to, and it's one we're going to see through to completion.
You tell 'em General!
HLL, this was the answer from Gen. Meyers I told you about the other day. :-)
