This is on ABC news' web site:
The White House did not publicly mark the 8 p.m. ET deadline for Saddam and his sons to go into exile or face war. Aides had said war would not automatically start the moment the deadline expired, but that Bush would rely on the advice of his military commanders. In the event of war, Bush would address the nation from the Oval Office, Fleischer said. link
I went to google news for the latest, and they had the story that Bush was going to speak tonight. When I checked it out, I found that it was a story from yesterday (from ABC News-Australia), but they had it leading as if it were breaking news. Puzzling.

CNN Radio just reported in a special report that strikes may be delayed due to Iraqui defections.

But we don't know what we are talking about! Reports come in from someone on the ship but that makes no difference to some people!

I don't think I slept during the first Gulf war! I'm here to get the stress level down. I have not heard anything further about Bush speaking.Tonight may not be the night.

I just wonder if someone found a post from Bushes speech two days ago. In order words this is old news and Bush has already spoke when he told Saddam to get out of Dodge.

Correct the story doesn't confirm the purported 9PM speech that this thread announced. The linked story was the announcement of the Monday night speech.......

Some people seem to be taking too much pleasure in this. There is an atmosphere here tonight that would be more fitting for the run-up to a major sporting event than a war in which many young Americans may lose their lives. I don't think anyone here means any harm.. They're excited....And I don't blame them...I would rather see everyone "up" on this and positive, because in reality, they *are* our team. All we have at this point is our two cents and speculation.
GO O'REILLY!!!! WOW!!!!

Did you read my post to you? Some people deal with stress in different ways. Sorry we don't fit your expectations.
I have a very good friend over there along with other friends and friends of my kids. One of my son's friends with the Marines over there wrote him and told him to have a beer for him while watching events unfold. Guess that was wrong for him to do because he isn't being serious enough!

UPI reports:
WASHINGTON, March 19 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush made no public statement and the White House news operation was silent Wednesday evening as the deadline for Saddam Hussein to leave his country passed at 8 p.m. EST. Television monitors in the White House pressrooms showed news channel pictures of Baghdad, where it was 4 a.m., that did not indicate any military activity taking place.
.... At some point either prior to the war or shortly after hostilities begin, Bush is expected to again speak to the nation, this time from the Oval Office. link

Oh boy, Bill O'Reilly is really ripping up Jane Hall about the war.

I really have a feeling that nothing will happen until dusk in Baghdad (about 12 hours from now) This will give us time to see who or what moves in fear of an attack. If Iraq thought we would attack at the zero hour, they would move things quickly when that hour came. Wait and see if they tip their hand.
