Supporting the troops - over the long-haul

As we approach war, we all hope that we'll be granted a swift and easy victory. Yet, it may be that other battles will come - North Korea threatens, and other nations in the Middle East harbor terrorists.

Even if the battle ends quickly, winning the peace may take somewhat longer, as is the case in Afghanistan. And during that time, our soldiers, airmen, and sailors will be a long way from home...and the other pleasures we civilians take for granted.

I came across a website at http://pizzaidf.org/ that is set up to let individuals quickly and easily arrange for various foods and messages of support to be delivered to the IDF. Is there any such mechanism available for our young soldiers? If there isn't, should there be?

It may be neither practical nor safe to send pizza to units trying to maintain order in post-war Iraq; but, perhaps it would be possible to send a package of needed and desired items from the US to a serviceman (or woman), or to a unit.
