Have The Dixie Chicks Gone Too Far?
Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines said "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." Phone calls and e-mails from many of you indicate a difference in opinion. We're giving you the chance to send your comments - which will be printed and delivered to The Dixie Chicks so they'll know how you feel.
Natalie Maines of "The Dixie Chicks" said at a concert in England and was quoted by a reporter from The Guardian "Just so you know," says singer Natalie Maines, "we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
At the EAGLE we disagree with her... we're behind President George W. Bush, whether we go to war or not. In a follow-up quote from The Dixie Chicks, Maines was quoted as saying: "We've been overseas for several weeks and have been reading and following the news accounts of our governments' position. The anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost."
Maines further stated, "I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."
Do you accept her excuse? We thought we'd give you a chance to "sound off" and let the Dixie Chicks know if you are in agreement with them - or if you disagree. We will print out these messages and (unless content demands otherwise) we will get copies of your e-mails to the Chicks so hopefully they'll reconsider their opinions.
Remember...be a Proud American, keep it clean!

I never listened to their music anyway, but I still freeped the poll. 60% won't buy their CD's OR want to hear their music on the radio. Another 28% just for the not buying CD's or tickets.
Ya gotta love it.

Fat, blonde, ignorant and seditious. As Dean Wormer would say: "That is no way to go through life, Natalie!"

Just so you know, we're ashamed that you claim to be from Dixie. Signed, Dixieland.

They ask for way too much personal info for me to participate. All fields are required and this may be a scam to grab names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

You know folks, if these radiostations had any brains they'd make some lemonade out of this lemon. Seeing the way the votes and calls go they could easily use this outpouring to increase their listenership by taking a public stand. Let's hope they do and dispose of this pseudo-country glitter trash!

You can still vote in the poll. I did vote in the small poll. It was the other one I found way too intrusive to participate on.

Well, I don't want to sign up with my name and address to respond to the radio station, but here is what I will email them, if the Ditsy Chicks every have their pubic forum up again:
Yes, we have freedom of speech in America, but we also have a free-market economy. You certainly have a right to have any opinion you want, but when you use your celebrity status to broadcast your anti-Bush statements, we have the right to use our status as consumers to choose not to purchase any of your products. Freedom is a wonderful thing, too bad you don't want Iraqi citizens to experience it!

"Natalie - In a few years when your careers are done, look in the mirror some morning at your big mouth. There's Your Trouble."
