Chelsea’s New Job: The former first daughter accepts a New York job

McKinsey [Consulting] confirmed the acceptance but would not comment on Chelsea Clinton's salary.

A formner recruiter for the firm says most new associates earn between $115,00.00 and $120,00.00 peryear, usually with a new signing bonus of $10,000.

As one of 5,000 consultants worldwide, Clinton will look forward to long hours(!) lots of travel and no bragging about the job.

From a marketing aspect, that is a bargain. The firm is instantly world famous in circles that would never have heard of them otherwise. The local equivalent around here is to hire ex_KU_basketball_stars and give them a corner office.

Actually, I can't find the words to describe how very little I care about what Chelsea does, doesn't do, thinks, dates, how many degrees she has, etc. You get the idea. I'd just as soon not ever hear or read another word about her.

What area is she doing consulting in?

I know McK has a 4-week intro program that is supposed to make anyone from horse doctors to undersea sponge harvesters into management consultants, but really... On the whole it is tough to work for McK as an associate without a top tier MBA and real work experience.

If she's working a public sector consulting section or something like that I could see her as a valuable addition...But realistically this kid doesn't even have any of her own connections.

This is a screwing to McK's other analysts and consultants who are going to have to pull Chelsea's weight. Nothing in her academic background suggests she has the quantitative skills or computer modeling ability to do anything useful. Her salary is doing to be a drain on the company's resources...the money would be better spend on bonuses for existing employees who know what they're doing.

Now a position as an ANALYST (typical for those without an MBA) would be perfectly reasonable. Many consulting firms will offer a "senior analyst" position (paying maybe 50-80 thousand after bonuses) to those with a Masters (but not an MBA, or not from a very good school). But this obvious give-away really dampens the admiration I previously had for this firm.

After three years of general consulting—say studying whether a Fortune 500 company should switch from selling apples to widgets—Chelsea will be able to specialize in anything from healthcare to consumer goods to corporate finance.

HEALTHCARE??? She only has to ask her mother for a little expertise.

She will move on long before then. She is a Kennedy....er...Clinton......er...Hubble...and perhaps in the end a Rodham.

Anybody who could ever think about hiring McKinsey was born knowing who they are. The undergraduate (and graduate) business students talk about these place from their first day of college onward... This is a lousy move, considering how many Republican clients they have to serve.

Let's see what kind of patronage the Bush daughters get...

Guess that's why she decided not to become a doctor in the HMO and Medicaid payment era.

When she entered Stanford she said her ambition was to become a physician. Sure, I thought, if you can pass your science courses, where wishful thinking and b.s. doesn't cut it.

So I see she's decided on a wishful thinking and b.s. career.

Wonder what her science grades were? Anyone out there who can get a hold of them?

I know teachers who have a doctorate and make only $45,000 a year, students learn early it is how much money my parents make (look at the student parking lot) and who do you know. Chelesa is a product of both. It will catch up with her though and others will take a fall protecting her, whatever will be will be ....... Que Sera Sera. Life goes on. Let's hope she doesn't have political aspirations. The fate of America is still in the hands of the Clintons. They are orchestrating the (non) war with Iraq as we speak, be afraid of them, they will not leave the stage.

Power, influence and money are complementary and interchangeable. What Chelsea is doing is not so terribly different from what Monica did.

A few weeks ago, McK offered her a mere $100k and she turned them down. They apparently upped the ante...I cannot imagine why. they may think they've scored a huge PR coup, but most of their clients would be appalled if Chels walked through their door.

Just look at whom the Board of Directors are in Chelsea's new company. That'll tell you something. Run those names against the list of bigwig Clinton campaign donors.

Last thing I saw of Chelsea was that she was a falling down drunk dropout in England who pulled 'C' averages at best, and now she's highly sought after for her skills to the tune of $130k in a downside economy? Wow! I had no idea that the prospects were so bright out there for the average college shmoe.

Why isn't anyone saying that Chelsea's only walking through this open door because of who her daddy is like they enjoy doing with George W Bush?

Can Chelsea fly F-105 fighter jets?

Check the board of directors, the Veeps, and anybody with serious pull in the company. Find out who worked in the last Bush administration. I'd lay even money that the King Bubba and the Wicked Witch of the West Wing threatened somebody with what's in their FBI file. Otherwise, this doesn't make any sense.
